as so many of the geniuses here advocate. He can be tough about his agenda and still play smart by offering bipartisanship to the repukes. Americans will stick with him if he does that. And yeah, that's important. Vitally so.

2. or 1994-2008
Pandering to Republicans and enabling and legitimizing their dysfuntional policies is what's gotten everyone into this mess in the 1st place.

3. As I've said in the past.....
....President Obama would have been a terrific sniper and operator. He is smart enough to deploy stealth as opposed to pulling out all his artillery. The Republicants will feel but a tiny pin prick as Obama's stilleto slices through them.

One smart mofo.

5. President Obama has to be tough with the Republicans
If we give an inch to the conservatives, they will politically nit-pick every part of the Democratic Agenda into ineffectiveness.

16. Damn straight. Don't give the pukes an inch
If you give those thugs an inch, they take a mile, and even then a mile isn't enough. They want the freakin' universe and, like serial killers, won't stop unless we stop them.

6. But he can do that
without sucking up to them.

I supported the guy, and will continue to do so for the indefinite future, but really... giving the Defense Department to a guy who would pin a medal on Bush for supporting the troops!? ...

unless maybe it was really a medal for helping to elect Obama:

LOL

7. Yes this is exactly how the Democratic party has moved so far right.
Over the years the republicans control the media and brand Democrats as being far-left. Democrats move right, mission accomplished.

What he should do is openly stand up for his value system. When America can finally equate Democratic values with true progress for our country then the Repukes and their brand of fear will be eliminated or at least pushed to the side.

It is time to push the center left not more right.

and build a climate in this country that makes it open season on Republicans....they are like a disease...it will take total eradication of these fuckers and their families to make this country healthy again!

9. What part of "You don't show your hand to your enemies" is so hard for
people to grasp? I'll repeat myself: It would be phenomenally, mind boggling stupid of Obama to tip off the repukes or give them ammunition. That the dogs and doggeses that he's not as poor a political strategist as much of DU.

10. Many of us are wondering though whether Obama is "not showing his hand"
Or is simply going to kowtow to Repubs?

The Repubs declared war many years ago, I only wish the Dems would at least respond like they knew it was a war.

11. I can agree with you on this
Using the experiences I have learned from in my 60 plus years of living as a base to believe on I see PE Obama going about neutering the republics in a sane and what will be seen in time as a most effective way. He knows what hes doing. He knows what is wrong. Hes told us in so many ways to not worry that some of the things he/they are going to do is going to be BOLD and prosecuting bushco is in the realm of bold I would think. It would be foolish for him to lay all his cards on the table here 9 days before he is inaugurated having won an election because the majority of us believe in him to do what is right.
President Obama and Vice-President Biden is/will be where the buck stops. That I believe in very strongly.

The neoCONs have grossly overplayed their hand so as to have enraged a big huge giant, the everyday Joe's and Jane's of this soon to be great country again.

12. Here's my take for what it's worth
The rethuglicons always, ALWAYS want the Democrats to play nice when they are out of power. They will always scream that the Democrats are playing partisan politics, if they don't play the game the rethuglicons set out, which is ALWAYS by their rules.

The Democrats oblige, and play nice. They pander to the rethuglicons and show that they CAN be bi-partisan.

However, once the rethuglicons gain control of the power again, they resort to their partisan politics.

I have seen this game over and over again.

I'm not saying that Obama shouldn't give the appearance of bi-partisanship. He could use his zen like skills to make the rethuglicons seem like the petty party they are and maybe the American citizens will notice this time around, when the rethuglicons refuse to cooperate with the President of the United States.

Back in the 80's one of the ways the Drug War escalated was with the rethuglicons campaigning against the Democrats as "being soft on drugs" so the Democrats showed they could be just as cold blooded as the rethuglicons. More "drug laws" were passed making it harder for casual users to face tougher penalties.

I bet the "new meme" from the rethuglicons will be the Democrats "are soft on terrorists" which the Democrats will have to prove they can be just as tough on anyone suspected of being a terrorists.

I guess I'll have to wait and see how this game is played out this time around.

17. Everyone seems to think anything that gets done has to be by Obama
The charges against the Bush* Cabal will not come from Obama but they will come. There are too damn many people in America that want Justice done. Obama can focus his attention on the Economy and foreign policy while Americans can pursue criminal complaints or at the very least Civil complaints against Cheney and Bush* and all their minions. There are people that just won't let this drop. The way American Law works is that anyone can file a complaint, it doesn't have to come from the President..
