What's with Reid's "I don't work for Obama" comment?
Of course he doesn't, but the statement leads one (at least me) that Harry's starting to feel a little out of sorts or something. I don't know this for a fact and I shall don my tinfoil hat, but I have a feeling word got to Harry from our PE to get this Burris thing settled by the end of the week. I think Obama knows very well how to delegate authority and let it be known, strongly, what he wants and does not want. Do you think Harry is finally getting the picture that this new President will not tolerate half-assed words and non-actions? Reid would be foolish to continue accommodating the Repugs. Maybe Harry had a little comeuppance thrown his way. I am guessing here, but I think he's out of sorts, new boss in town and all that..

1. I think Harry Reid is imploding. IMO, it can run a course to completion soon enough.

2. Great
The weasel Reid finally grows a spine - or a reasonable facsimile thereof - and he uses it to stand up to OUR MAN!

Stupid fuck needs to sit down and shut the hell up. He's worthless.

4. Um...when Bush was president Harry Reid
checked his balls and spine at the door...but when a Democrat is president all of a sudden Reid finds his missing balls and spine.

5. He's an egotist without anything to be egotistical about. Legally, he's correct, but politically...
it was a block-headed thing to say.

Reminds me of conservative Dems in '93 dissing Bubba and not voting for his budget.

6. Context
Reid stated, “I don't believe in the executive power trumping everything... I believe in our Constitution, three separate but equal branches of government.”

“If Obama steps over the bounds, I will tell him. … I do not work for Barack Obama. I work with him,” he said.

In December, Vice President Dick Cheney said President-elect Obama will “appreciate” the expansion of the executive branch's power over the last eight years. During an interview on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show, Cheney predicted that Obama will not cede that authority back to Congress.

While Cheney has been a regular at the Senate GOP policy lunches over the past eight years, Reid recently said Vice President-elect Biden will not be allowed to sit in while Democrats discuss legislative strategies over lunch. The move is part of Reid’s attempt to separate the executive and legislative branches, which moved in unison between 2001 and 2006.

7. In all fairness, Reid ALSO said he works WITH Obama
I am not impressed by his choice of words. But he is a politician, not a poet. Maybe, this is a hunch, he was trying to say he is a member of Congress, which is in the American tradition, a separate branch of government from the executive. Just a hunch.

Separation of powers. Amazing concept.

8. He's on my shitlist, but not for that comment
Its about time Congress asserted its coequality.

On the flipside, where the fuck was this amoeba when the Repubics were in charge and he was also the Leader?

A weasel is as a weasel does.

9. Y'know Harry
If you showed half as much spine back in 2006, a few people might not be DEAD, actually, a LOT of people might not be.

11. Read the Constitution: Senators don't work for Presidents! Congress makes the law,
president executes/enforces. We wouldn't be in the mess we're in if Constitution was followed.
