Pelosi: US must stand strongly with Israel

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3645321,00.html

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi issued a statement concerning the Israeli operation in Gaza in which she wrote that "When Israel is attacked, the United States must continue to stand strongly with its friend and democratic ally."

According to Pelosi, "Peace between Israelis and Palestinians cannot result from daily barrages of rocket and mortar fire from Hamas-controlled Gaza. Hamas and its supporters must understand that Gaza cannot and will not be allowed to be a sanctuary for attacks on Israel." (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)

Our dear and wise DUer, sui generis said this in another thread, and I'm grateful for the nonsensical making of sense... if you get my drift.

9. Why? I would prefer if the US could attempt to be an honest broker for peace, not biased to either.
Perhaps then the peace process could actually show a little progress? Why can't we slap Hamas for rockets AND slap Israel for its massive overkill in response to said rockets?
:wtf:

16. AIPAC is to our party what the Religious Right is to the GOP

We need to break away from the influence these single issue PACs have on our political system, it bastardizes reason.

18. It's just not all about AIPAC
There are areas of this country where AIPAC has no ability to impact an election- such as my state of Vermont, and neither of my Senators are speaking up- though in the past, Leahy has been somewhat better than most of them. Same goes for my rep.

23. The Emperor's New Clothes
This disproporationate action on the part of Israel is reviled most places in the world (except for the U.S. and Israel MSM and political leadership). Even Gordon Brown has called for a cease-fire, but you wouldn't know that by listening to the M$M in this country.

27. Congresswoman Pelosi: There is a grand difference between supporting
Edited on Tue Dec-30-08 01:18 PM by higher class
Israel as a country and supporting it financially = AND - condoning outright massacres against International Law as outlined by a United Nations spokesperson.

Ms Pelosi - I RESENT OUR MONEY BEING SPENT ON MORE MASSACRES, MORE DENIAL OF DOCTORS AND MEDICINES, UNATTENDED INJURIES, BODIES PILED UP OUTSIDE THEIR MORGUES, THE HIGHEST OF TECHNOLOGY REIGNED DOWN ON CHILD AND MOTHER CAUSING HEART BREAKING TRAUMA AND TERROR - HOW CAN YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES AND EARS AND H E A R T.

I RESENT YOUR LEADERSHIP ON THIS ISSUE AND A FEW OTHERS.

I RESENT BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY ISRAEL WHEN IT COMES TO LIFE AND HUMANITY.

PLEASE ATTEMPT TO JUSTIFY THE MASSACRES. MANY OF US ARE INCENSED.

Edited on Tue Dec-30-08 01:18 PM by chrisa
Some Americans, and our government as a whole have become so brainwashed by the "9/11 safety" crowd that any arab to them is inhuman, and therefore deserving of death. There are no women and children in Palestine to them - just men wearing masks dancing in the street with AK-47s.

Cowboy politics. Yee-haw!

32. With friends like Israel the United States doesn't need enemies
Israel has murdered American citizens with impunity thanks to spineless Dems like Pelosi. Israel murdered our sailors on the US Liberty in 1967, Rachel Corrie and tried to assassinate one of our ambassadors to Lebanon.
