Mukasey: Cheney Interview (Plame) Protected by Executive Privilege
http://www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1202427076527&rss=newswire

The president may assert executive privilege to withhold from Congress records of an FBI interview with Vice President Dick Cheney regarding the leak of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity, the attorney general concludes in a legal opinion released Monday.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee subpoenaed the records as part of its long-running investigation into what roles, if any, President George W. Bush, Cheney and their aides may have played in the leak.

Attorney General Michael Mukasey warned that, were the records turned over, White House officials would be less likely to cooperate in future investigations out of fear that their words would become public, forcing the department to rely on grand jury subpoenas instead. "I am greatly concerned about the chilling effect that compliance with the Committee's subpoena would have on future White House deliberations and White House cooperation with future Justice Department investigations," Mukasey wrote in the opinion, which is dated July 15.

In a July 8 letter, Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., threatened to cite Mukasey with contempt of Congress for withholding the records.

Was there any doubt? I just want to thank Senator Shumer et al for giving us Mukasey. America thanks you. Hell, the world thanks you.

2. We've been betrayed by Democrats. Is it so important to Mukasey

to finish up 23 days for these people or did he strike a bargain to protect the P and VP to the last minute?

Well, so far - he is tainted as the near final operative. Cheney chose right by him.

And way too many Democrats are tainted. Their sweet speeches for Mukasey and their voices as they voted will not be forgotten.

It is time for Feinstein, Schumer and all the rest to go - they obviously are getting blackmailed or they were traitor plants.

It really hurts to think back to the days when they spoke out and made us pround. We must have been under sedation or worse to have believed anything they ever said.

All of their actions - from Mukasey to immunity for the spies on us, the Patriot Act, the torture and torment, the loss of body, mind, immune systems, limbs, organs, severe PTSD, peace of soul, careers, marriages and all the exiles and destroyed Iraqis.

They sure had me fooled up until the day they never apologized for the war and their kiss Bush votes.

We have Congress Schumer and Feinstein et al fighting Congress - Waxman and his team.

Who are the citizen-Democrats here?

3. But that opinion should not cover Cheney's interview's with the press
that have aired over various television networks. And Cheney has admitted outting Plame as well as being involved in authorizing the use of torture.
