Dateline is showing families being evicted..
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 09:10 PM by firedupdem
I am bawling my eyes out. Fathers crying as their wife and children and belongings are thrown out onto the street. People from all walks of life. This is really sad.

2. It basically happened to me but I was already gone. Michigan
was my home and I had to move here for work. Tried to pay for 2 houses as long as I could. Couldn't sell the house. It's horrible. Now I'm drinking and crying.

4. I can't believe it - the old days - before the war and Republican corporations bought the networks?
A tv station covering something very embarassing and sorrowful to this country?

I'm sorry for everyone who is hurting and this week there are plenty. Next week ... I can't imagine how it will be with way too many good people.

6. Yea, and while everyone watches this
sad, sad, and awful situation just keep in mind we were all set up. The credit default swaps are the reason for this meltdown NOT the people with mortgages. I will say it again, If you went in for a mortgage on a house and lets say the house was worth 250,000 the bank told you it was worth 300,000 so you were given a montage for 300,000 the banks then changed the terms, big time, and you couldn't make the payments, but you also couldn't sell the house for the amount of the montage or more because it wasn't worth that much. So you were stuck. Couldn't sell the house for what you owed let alone a profit. Profit no way. Well here is when it becomes fun for the banks and Billionaire investors. You are going to default, duh. That's where the default traders from all over the world clean up, that's where the 350 Billion so far has gone to make good on the bets all over the world. I will admit I had no idea it was world wide until I did much reading and research. I couldn't figure out where all the money went until I did the research.

7. And also there is still another 180 trillion dollars of debts that
Are Coming due to the SIV's and the Credit Default Swaps, though our lousy corporate "media" will declare that this further striking down of the economy is on account of more ARM's to adjust and more slacker poor folks not paying their bills.

A lot of people here on DU do not get it. That this is gonna end up being Obama's Bay of Pigs - except it won't be a few hundred people killed and in Castro's jails, but the entire Global economy burning, while he approves of Paulson and appoints crooks like Rubin and Geithner.

9. I am very afraid for Obama. I know this will all be blamed on
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 11:38 PM by Sebass1271
him. American people will only give him two years, if it gets worse, they will choose another republican, so they can continue screwing us up. Look at OPEC they announced they will cut production, i am afraid the situation will get just like when Carter was president. Americans didn't understand Carter was not the one to blamed, they just blamed everything on him cause he was the president and seemed like he had no character and too weak/wimpish....

IF OBama does not come clean and speak truthfully to the American people by holding press conferences constanly and speaking CLEARLY that the financially mess we will find ourselves(including the shortage of gasoline) are the mismanagment of the past administrations (bush( republicans, etc. he will be a fried fish by 2012.

I am telling you. I know he is being inclusive and all, but being inclusive not necesarilty put food on the American people table. It takes courage to act on what is right and make difficult decisions despite of the majority (media) wishes.. I say media because let's face it, the majority (americans) is driven by what the media (other majority) tell them.

12. It will be up to Obama to deflect the blame. I think he can do this.
He has shown his gamesmanship in the election by even outmaneuvering the Clintons. His real problem is in recognizing there is a left, whose votes he could not have won without, and he needs to include us too, or you may see another Ralph Nader spoiler in four years.

8. You forgot that people WERE working and had jobs
Whether you buy a house for $350K or less you can't lie to the banks, you must present evidence you are working and can afford the mortgage of that amount. BUT, if you lose your job or become unemployed (like it has been happening for last two years) you won't be able to afford your mortgage or the payment you were told, especially after your interests are not fixed as you originally thouhgt they would.

I know people who lost their house not because they didn't live within their means, but because they lost their jobs and could not pay their mort anymore.
