Illinois governor described as 'upbeat' as he went to work today
CHICAGO (AP) - He's being denounced by politicians from all sides, and ridiculed by the late-night comedians.

He's been arrested on corruption charges, and President-elect Barack Obama is among those who says he should step down.

But a spokesman for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says the governor is in an "upbeat, positive mood." The spokesman says, "There's a sense of trying to return to normalcy."

Blagojevich has been at work in his Chicago office today and Wednesday, despite the cloud hanging over him for allegedly plotting to put Obama's Senate seat on the auction block.

And Further

What motivated the alleged money grab by Governor Blagojevich? It may be sizeable legal bills.

By late October, Gov. Rod Blagojevich had been in the crosshairs of a federal investigation for three years. For that entire period, the powerhouse law firm of Winston and Strawn was standing behind him.

But sources familiar with the situation say that Winston and Strawn wanted to be paid for back legal fees and Blagojevich needed money. The governor's open tab at the law firm was already at $2 million according to legal sources.

The firm told Blagojevich that he needed to pay his outstanding bill by the end of the year.

Blago didn't pay and the law firm dropped him.

1. I'm hoping Lisa Madigan the state's attorney can assess him as mentally
unstable and Pat Quinn could be our governor.

3. The guy went in to work, Yesterday and then again Today
Something is terribly wrong with his thought process. Who, besides his lawyers, is going to take his call?

5. Pat Quinn was interviewed by NPR this afternoon, says he hasn't had a conversation with Blagojevich
in about a year -- the Gov "likes to keep to himself" and has made it clear to Quinn that there's no need for them to talk about anything.

wtf.

4. I'm not a psychologist, but I've seen this before in manic-depressives.
They are happy, happy, happy regardless of the reality around them. Also, they are reckless beyond belief. And these states can last various lengths of time, but in the cases I have seen, they always get the person in trouble. Oh, and in manic states, the person feels invincible. And it's very hard to disagree with them because you are met with such energetic and excited anger that ------ you can hardly breathe, much less think. So this could explain why people thought they were disagreeing with him, but he didn't get it. This is just based on my limited experience.

Get this guy a doctor and soon before he really goes wild.

6. "There's a sense of trying to return to normalcy."
Against all odds, he is trying "to return to normalcy." Like it's within his power to do that....

He is clearly delusional. He thinks he's invincible. Wow.

Aren't there any qualifications to be governor? We have seen our share of loony tunes lately.
