Parade of fools. One empty symbol after another- Adding up to what?
I just had the parade on while cooking, and it really struck me more than ever before how it's just a propaganda campaign for american consumption.

Where's Brother Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping when you need him?

They allowed the Oneida Indian Nation a beautiful float with a turtle and a tree and real american indians with their real ancient decorations and chanting. It was lovely. Spreading peace in all directions, with a real tree. That was the only zen 20 seconds in the whole thing.

It was immediately, without station break, followed by several obnoxious "Sprit Of America", Spirit of Freedom" "Uncle Sam" mindless b.s. floats all covered with red white and blue and eagles and crap. Pop singers, beauty queens, BARF!

I mean, really, haven't we put down the natives, yet? Do they still threaten the white man that much?

And, of course, the ubiquitous santa.

OK, ok, it's a macy's parade and supposed to be about shopping in NYC.

But let's face it: This is the same crap we're fed every day, just in a more concentrated form.

God bless america, the troops, the wars, the killings, the brutality, the torture, the rendition, the economic upheaval. God bless it all.

If we all survive this economic disaster, let's hope we all grow up a little, and start thinking about being more than little infantile consumers.

3. Jesus H. Christ
I think you're reading a little too much into a freakin' parade. Last I checked, kids love parades, so maybe you could just sit back and enjoy it for what it is.

4. I would like to see a parade of handuffed ceo's marching of to break rocks
for a few years. We could paint little happy faces on them and give the kids rotten fruit to throw at them.

8. I agree. Until we make the transition to a new economy.. it's going to be tough..
.. I wouldn't want to be a young child growing up today. The world is so Fucked up.

I watched the faces of the young children.. they believe that we adults know what we are doing.

I hope and pray that we can prosecute George Bush and Dick Cheney, and never take our precious country down this dark hole.. ever again.
