Bailout is too kind a word. What word or phrase would you use ...
... to describe what Wall Street is asking for?

1. Extortion, plain and simple. The banksters knew what they were doing all along.
They also knew they could pass on any losses to the sheeple.

3. Of course. Unlike the irresponsible borrowers, the irresponsible lenders had a Plan B all set up...
from the very start.

2. Alimony?
until Wall Street can rehabilitate it/themselves.

The 'marriage' of Wall Street and government is over?

That would 'work' for me. :D

4. Communism
The wingers always reach right for hyperbolic and MSM bobbleheads dutifully report it with straight faces, so why not? It's CREEPING COMMUNISM.

From each according to his abilities: Us.

To each according to his needs: Wall Street.

10. The Final Pillage...
The Treasury has been under constant assault from the moment the boooosh cabal seized power and this is the final clear-out before the adults return to clean up the mess.

Isn't it sumthin' this crisis came to a head before the election when it became clear to many on "The Street" that McCain wasn't going to win and they better get their shots in now before its too late. So with the pressure of the elections and a frantic corporate media screaming how we were all doomed, not only is what's left in there being ransacked, but we're gonna print more money to ensure the job is complete.

For the past 25 years, the markets have bounced from one bubble to the next...getting a little bolder with each scheme and always with some kind of fallback to run to when the bubble burst. The money lost in the dot com bust was soon made up in the real estate bubble...and initially it was being hedged by rising oil prices...yet another bubble that has just burst. Now we have a stagnant economy that will take a year to sort out before a real recovery begins.

13. Unless you're talking about the auto industry, then "bailout" is often considered
to be too harsh a term.

For the Wall Street bailout, to the extent that it involves purchasing stock in AIG, Citi, etc., I think we should stick Bush with the "nationalizing" tag. That will bother him and his cronies more than anything else we might call it.
