So, who produced it?

Obama?

Obama supporters?

Or GOP operatives, hoping to cause Hillary supporters and Obama supporters to go at each others' throats over it?

- Dave

P.S. The MSM is salivating, judging by the number of news items: http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&ie=UTF-8&q=1984+hillary&scoring=d

1. it reminds me of a Kilgore mailing in the '04 VA Gov race...
A mailing arrived in my mailbox about two weeks before the election, purporting to be from an independent third-party candidate's campaign, and was ostensibly the reasons why Dem candidate (and winner ;-) ) Tim Kaine wasn't really as liberal as he claimed to be.

The thing is, I (and others, including a diarist at Kos) noticed that it said in small letters "Paid for by Kilgore '04" along one of the edges.

So, you had the Republican candidate's campaign putting out a mailing that pretended to be from the independent candidate's campaign, lambasting the Dem candidate for not being liberal enough--with the goal of turning off Dem voters from Kaine, thinking he's too centrist; and making the (negligible) independent candidate look like he was far more liberal than he was, hopefully turning off more conservative voters and turning on liberal voters.

Just because an ad says "vote so-and-so" doesn't actually mean it's from a "supporter" of that person. I wish reporters were smart enough to understand that.... :eyes:

2. The Inevitable FEC Legal Case on This...
... could be a real 21st century test of the tension between the First Amendment and campaign finance laws.

Beyond that, if a zealous supporter uses his/her talents to produce something like this gratis, the FEC could become increasingly sidelined.

3. I vote option 3
Obama wouldn't. He's smarter than that.

I can't say the same for all Obama supporters - any more than for any candidate's supporters - but this attempt is so stupid (infringing Apple copyrights, too negative) that I can only hope it wasn't his supporters.

But now a big week-long media and blog slugfest will ensue about who dunnit. That's the mark of a disruptor. Everything points to the GOP.

4. Overzealous Supporter, or Option 3 Is My Guess...
... and I'll make a prediction: it's only a matter of time before one of these gets traced back to the RNC.

5. Could it be Arianna Huffington?
YouTube member "parkridge47" was the 1st to post this video, on March 5th. I googled that name and found this post. Ask Arianna? Why not. She slams Sen. Clinton every opportunity she gets - I would not find it implausible. (Not a Huffington fan, myself. There is something about her I have never found trustworthy, and I find it difficult to glean political insights from someone who sounds like a Gabor sister, dahlink.)

6. This sounds like something Rove would do to start infighting
Remember when he planted a bug in his own candidates office? This video is exactly the type of thing he would do.

Disclaimer - I have no evidence, just my speculation
