Senate. It is OUR SENATE, how come we never get a vote! If we didn't have the antediluvian repugs breathing down our neck, I would never give another cent to a Democratic campaign.

http://firedoglake.com/2008/11/18/lieberman-suck-on-that-liberals/
Asked what it would mean if Lieberman kept his chairmanship, one Senate Democratic aide said bluntly: "The left has been foiled again. They can rant and rage but they still do not put the fear into folks to actually change their votes. Their influence would be in question."

27. No, but they decided he should be in the senate
I think it would be a bit of a slap in the face to them to yank the rug out from under the dude they chose because he didn't play ball the way most Democrats wanted him to.

Look, I hope the people of CT will wield their democratic power here in a few years and boot this SOB out of office. Hell, I hope they'll go old-school on him and run him out on a rail. I think it's a little draconian though to look at the people of CT who elected him and say "well, okay, we have to live with your choice but we're going to basically neuter your senator because he's being a dick."

38. So had Republicans taken over the Senate it would have been unfair of them to take over committees?

They elected an Independant in 2004 who spent 2008 campaigning for a Republican.

I fail to see how we would be fucking over the the people of CT. They are the ones who voted against the Democrat in 2004. They made their choice.

Lieberman was put into office by the Republicans in Ct.
Lieberman is NOT a "Democrat". He is an "Independents for Lieberman"....Party of One.

I would prefer to see a Democrat chairing the committee.

31. Harry literally bit his tongue before the announcement.
The Democrats look weak...weak...WEAK!

Holy Joe in the background is GLOATING.
Schumer looks very pleased, Smug.
Of course Schumer (DLC) is smug. Lieberman is ex-Chairman of the DLC.

This is NOT about a 60 vote majority.
This is about a DLC majority in the Democratic Caucus.

Harry is WRONG! He said Lieberman is "A Democrat".
Lieberman is NOT a Democrat. He left the Party in 2006.

Bla, bla, bla.

The "We need a 60 vote majority" is BOGUS.
The Republicans NEVER had a 60 vote majority, and they rammed through EVERYTHING they wanted.

Fuck a BUNCH of Liebermans.
Fuck a BUNCH of "secret votes".
Reid said Lieberman got an overwhelming majority.
NOW do you see where you really stand with the Democratic Party?

Lieberman just said he has "an independence of mind. Thats who I am."
IOW, He's a MAVERICK....You Betcha!

I just can't wait until the The Democrats try to use their 60 vote majority to pass legislation the actually HELPS the Working Class. They will need another "Secret Vote", and then cry that they need a 70 vote majority.

The Republicans NEVER had a 60 vote majority.

So much
BULLSHIT

How long before they give another bailout to Billionaires?

Disgusting.
Transparent.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

41. Stunned
I am absolutely stunned. I was stunned when Obama made it known that he "supported" Lieberman's stay as Chairman, and I'm stunned that the Senate didn't stand up and say NOOO.

I hear all the talk about how he votes, but he can't be trusted...unless...did they pay him off and get it in writing?

This man is about as old school as it gets, and he appears to be a betrayer and a liar besides. If Ct. wants him, they can have him, but is that any reason he should be Chairman of an important Committee for Democrats? The things the right wing says about Democrats turns out to be true. No guts. One nice thing, I can keep the money for the family that I give to the Party now and then.
They can do their pansy assed deeds without my support.

I'm afraid we're in for more 'same as usual'. It's a shame.
Change, HA.

42. Lieberman uses his committee to protect Republicans.
This is a clear indication that ALL Bush admin Republican lawbreakers will be protected.

Pelosi, Ried and now, I guess, Obama will join the Bill Clinton in preserving the Republican power structure so that it can attack again in 2016.

They are not finished with us yet. They will simply wait until our bank accounts get a little fatter before completing the takeover.

this is a respite before the final attack, not a new beginning.
