Georgia O'Keeffe was an American artist associated with the American Southwest, where she found artistic inspiration. Her paintings synthesized abstraction and representation in paintings of flowers, rocks, shells, animal bones and landscapes, presenting crisply contoured forms replete with subtle tonal transitions of varying colors.
"I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.
To create one's own world in any of the arts takes courage.
I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way, things I had no words for."
