Press and hold Control button and hit f-key.

Type Palin in the box. Select Highlight all. Then Hide thread for every highlight.

Not automatic, but effective, and worth the time.:fistbump:

It's called scrolling past and ignoring those particular threads. No one is forcing you to click on them and read them.

on all the threads with "Sarah Palin" in the title. It's not a perfect system, but it works pretty well.

which will take you to another box where you type "Sarah Palin".

Keep on typing "Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin,..." over and over again, until the clock radio next to your bed starts playing "I Got You Babe". :P

one alternative that exists now, is click the thread, click hide thread option, rinse, repeat until you can't see any more of them. It's a lot of work for about 15 minutes and then there's just the occassional new one you have to add... it worked for me for the Edwards/scandal/love child threads...
