The IFC Media Project
Starting next Tuesday, November 18th, at 8 pm est, IFC will feature a weekly, six-part series on how the corporate media manipulates public perception. Below is a link with a short description of each episode.

I think that DUers, far more than the average citizen-consumer, understand the nature of the corporate media. It looks as if the series will feature information that is the type discussed here frequently. For that reason, I look forward to the IFC series.

I'm curious what others think of it.

1. Is this only available on cable?
or is it also available on the website as well? I can't seem to find links to anything streaming... perhaps it's me though.

2. I'm not sure
if it is available on the web. It may be, after it airs on tv. (I get it as part of DirecTV.)

3. Media
I'm sure this response is sort of like preaching to the choir but The Media Monopoly by Ben Bagdikian outlines nicely the problem with the current set up of the media. When a limited number of people/groups own the vast, vast majority of TV stations, Radio Stations, and periodicals you are going to be forced to look for the cracks where the light comes in.

One of my favorite journalist is Bill Moyers, I always wonder who is going to take his place when he is no longer offering insight. He seems to constantly be warning folks about the dimming of lights in regards to decent journalism.

One of the things that makes it so interesting and difficult is that there are so many forms available and the speed at which information is expressed creates a real smoke screen for anybody interesting in educating themselves....let alone those who believe everything they hear, see or read.
