How will Obama's win change progressive talk radio?
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 02:36 PM by CaseyBuck
Think about it. The right-wing talk show hosts, despite sounding angry and upset on the air, are probably laughing all the way to the bank today. Why? Because Obama's win just guaranteed at least 4 years of non-stop fodder for their shows (just like how Bush guaranteed 8 years of fodder for our side).

Will our progressive talk show hosts be focusing the positive things that the Democrats will do? Or will they still be railing against Republicans, despite their diminished influence on the government? It's going to be kinda weird hearing hosts like Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy sounding happier on January 20th.

1. They were hanging on during Bush, I think they fold now.
There was a lot of outrage during the Bush years, but liberals aren't normally as hate filled, so I suspect their audience drops considerably.

Rush however will make more personally than all of liberal radio combined.

2. The Thought That They Will Fold Saddens Me
I have come to look at some of the hosts almost as friends.

I am hoping you are wrong because the Rush's and Hannity's of the world did not fold in the last 8 years.

3. There's plenty of work to be done. Their job is to make sure it happens.
What happened in California with Prop. 8 shows that while the country was ready to make a change at the top, there's a lot of work to be done in the trenches. Our job is to make sure this adminstration and Congress do it.

4. Regardless of who's in the White House, I'll still listen to Air America
Just because we "won" an election doesn't change the fact that a lot of things need to be worked on.
