How did Wyoming and Mississippi end up with two Senate races each?

I expect that at least one in each state was a special election. What were the circumstances?

1. not sure about wyoming...

But MS has two senate races b/c Trent Lott resigned, so the governor appointed someone to carry the term until a special election was held to elect someone to finish out Trent Lott's seat. we had the regular election (Thad Chochran) and our new senator elect, who was the appointee, Roger Wicker. Both are (R).

2. Ah, so the Trent Lott replacement is being elected for a less than 6 year term

I forgot that Lott left in disgrace.
