What are the McCain voters afraid of?
would they rather be homeless and lose everything than have a black man for president?

1. Same thing we are...
Being represented someone they think doesn't represent their values. I'd love for it to be more sinister than that, and for some of them it is, but for the most part, that's all there is to it.

9. Yep, that pretty much
sums it up for a good many of them, just like it does for us with McSame.

I do think for some of them there's a racial component as well, although many may not admit that even to themselves. Others are much more open about it. Also, should Obama win, that's a major, major, major sea change in politics, just like the younger generation is really revolutionizing things, and it's a kind of "handover" to a different generation and the beginning of a different era. That's very frightening to a lot of people, especially older people, the sense of having their world changing like that. And the latent racism makes for some heavy emotions as well.

4. Nope they are afraid that their taxes will go up when, like their hero
Joe the unlicensed plumber, make over $250,000 a year. Oh don't forget mandatory abortions, xmas declared illegal, terrorists knocking on their doors to hand hem a "package", drug dealers moving next door to them, their churchs boarded up, arrests made because conservatives are going to lose all their rights as citizens, their guns are going to be taken away so they can't defend themselves against scary people, like liberals, minorities and they won't be able to start another civil war. These are just a few of the things McCain voters fear will happen.

5. The Civilian Security Force...
How about that civilian security force that is as well funded as the United States military that Obama proposed in a speech on July 3rd. Does that give anyone else pause for concern?

11. Yes, don't you know by now? He's
a secret Muslim, even though he's also a Christian at the same time. He was really groomed by the Islamofascists who are poised to take over as soon as he takes the oath of office. He's really Hitler in disguise who will make Christianity illegal and who will viciously persecute Christians and everything else "American" (they are one and the same thing, right, 'cause only Christians are Americans, you know).

Don't laugh. This is exactly the kind of shit I'm getting in emails and mailings, believe it or not. I didn't make any of it up. People really believe this shit.

6. growing up
They fear growing up.

They can have "daddy" protect them from the evil boogyman. They can fetishize over their guns, their latent sexual desires, etc. They can pretend that their actions don't have consequences: gas hogs, climate change, etc are all "not real" to them.

Then can run up a trillon dollar loan, chant USA! USA! like its some frat party or highschool football game. They can pretend there is a god that wants them to be selfish, and that they are "blessed" and everyone else is full of sin.

So now they have to grow up. And they have to face reality. And I'm sure it terrifies them because they are ill prepared to accept it.

7. All the things the RW propaganda machine told them to fear.
When all you know of Democrats are what you hear about from Rush, this is what we get to work with.

10. For many, it's not even about race. It's about greed and self righteousness
If McCain was black, and Barack was white, they'd still be voting for McCain. Nothing trumps greed, imo.

13. They're afraid of another successful Democratic presidency.
They managed to get themselves back in power after Bill Clinton by annoying people with their constant complaining. This time around, with the memory of the Bush Jr years fresh in people's minds, they won't be able to pull the same shit.
