Violence is ok but not sex
"Zack and Miri Make a Porno" banned in Utah but not "Saw V"

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/zackandmiri_blog.html

Kind of reminds me of the "Grand Theft Auto" sex scene hack. Here you got a video game with guns, drugs, shooting and running people over and parents buy it for their kids birthdays but when it was discovered that there was a sex scene in the game that you could hack into it was all the outrage then.

1. Apparently 'porno' is a bad word
The trailers I have seen on TV so far list the title as just "Zack and Miri". But if the movie was called "Zack & Miri Rip Out your Pancreas and Shove it in Your Eye Socket", I'm sure it would be fine.

2. That's Amurka.....
.... My friend from Sweden always points out that Americans freak out when they see someone passionately kissing in public, but think it's perfectly normal to have a Glock in their jacket pocket.

3. Yeah, I've never been able to figure out
that part of our culture. Blood & guts = good. Passion = bad.

4. In NC they are leaving out "make a porno" before 9pm
After 9 they make a porno, before that...they are just broke room mates who inexplicably do things that don't seem to suggest a coherent plot..... much like a porno.

I used to be in mgmt in movie theaters. And you would see parents dragging little, tiny kids into disgustingly violent movies I couldn't even watch.

But let a teenager see "Stand By Me"? with dirty words and a dead body...oh...no, rated X, or brief male frontal nudity in "Room with a View" sorry, rated X. Maybe the shrunken cold water willie triggered their inadequacy fears.

Or let them watch any movie where two people in a relationship made love? NO, No, No.....

It's like they can somehow comprehend violence, but not sexuality.

For a world where it's the other way around.......

6. This has never really made any sense.
From a child's point of view, the violence is much more disturbing than the sex, and, from a parent's point of view, much harder to explain to your kids.

10. "This Film Is Not Yet Rated"
It is a great documentary about how the whole ratings system works. (or doesn't depending on your viewpoint)
