Why is Tweety so pissed off at the Republicans anyway?
Something must have happened to piss this old boy off or something.

He has been merciless lately. He has a Rethug and a Dem on together all the time but the Dem never gets to say anything. And don't need to. The Dem just sits there grinning as Tweety puts the Rehug under the klieg light and gets down to business.

Its kind of amazing.

Something must have happened.

Don

2. What happened was Sarah Palin. He's as frightened as we are
at even the thought of her having the potential to be POTUS. I'll just bet.

6. After years of ass kissing, they made him look bad and he's in his rehab stage before
running in a couple of years.

He's got to realign with the pulse of the people.

19. He ripped up a few swifties back in 2004 == seriously he cut them to ribbons.
Heavily pushed back on Michelle Malkin too when she claimed Kerry wounded himself.

He blew a gasket when the RNC used a clip of Kerry from Hardball out of context to make Kerry look bad. The Bush rep was practically crying when Matthews was done berating him.

But then something happened after that -- Rove put pressure on NBC, I think matthews got threated.

I get the feeling he learned his lesson from that experience -- look what backing down got him.

10. I think because the repubniks have lowered the bar to the level of the absurd.
Matthews, in my view, is an ass. But he understands politics and has a respect for it. He recognized bush was not quite up to the job, intellectually, but viewed him as a leader on the strength of his personality. (You and I don;t see it that way, but many people did .... and Matthews was willing to allow for that.)

The pick of Palin was a new low. A depth never considered, let alone plumbed.

And I honestly think he's angry about that.

Like a lot of people.

13. I honestly think he's an old lib in some ways, too
He gets teary eyed about the prospect of victory for the Civil Rights movement with the election of an African American president. He often talks about how his kids' friends are color blind and what it means to him to have the country moved so far in his lifetime.

12. Part of it is the way they evade his questions.
Politicians have never really answered a question directly, but the way the GOP are doing it now is unprecedented.

What the GOP are doing looks like denial.

Oh, and I never considered it, but I like the suggestion that he is thinking about a Senate run.

14. After taking a good hard look at this abysmal excuse for Republican "leadership"
it appears Matthews finally said to himself, "Enough is enough!"

He seems to recognize the inherent danger in this ludicrous McCain/Palin ticket and therefore he's taking a page from McCain's campaign and actually putting country first.

Good for him. Good for us. Good for America. I only wish more of the talking heads who, when given the choice between their jobs and their integrity chose the former, would finally wake up, recognize what's at stake here, and join with Chris Matthews.

15. Personally I think it's job security
Meaning Tweety decided that cuddling repugs wasn't cutting it with folks anymore since seeing the ratings that both KO and Racheal are getting lately. And has decided to get on the anti-repug bandwagon as a result. Nothing more.

17. He doesn't like the "PAL AROUND WITH TERRORISTS" stuff
Long time Tweety watcher here -- this nasty turn of the McCain campaign pissed him off big time -- Trying to paint Obama as a foreigner/anti-American/terrorist PISSES HIM OFF. Add all the "Real America" and "Pro-AMERICA parts of the country" and you get an even more upset Tweety.

20. You may be right
I remember the night explained how someone immigrant comes here through Ellis Island (not Obama), but immigrants in general, to become proud Americans and a benefit to our society and then the first thing the Rethugs do is try to turn them back into a foreigner.

Seemed to make him sick.
