China: Howed fucked up can you possibly get.

I know there are people here who don't give a shit about animals. But I do. And China just makes me crazy.

Over on Raw Story today there is an article about how 1500 racoon dogs (dogs bred for their fur) in China actually died due to melamine poisoning in their food.

I know we are not perfect here but the Chinese attitude toward animal welfare just makes me nuts.

4. I think it is their total disregard for any kind of life

And I don't think it is the average citizens that feel that way. I'm sure the Chinese love their children - especially since most of them are only allowed one child. And I know that people in China love dogs. But the government's attitude is just atrocious.

What - about 60,000 Chinese infants were affected by the tainted milk? Probably way more than that if the truth were known.

And not that long ago the government just went thru cities and killed people's dogs - everyone's dogs - because of a rabies scare.

And I know we raise animals for slaughter - and I hate any kind of animal abuse. But I especially hate killing cats and dogs for their fur. And killing them is really appalling ways. I'm a pet sitter. I take care of dogs and cats all day long. So this particular kind of abuse really hits home.

So I never buy Chinese if I can help it. I don't trust any of their productss. It's the only way I have figured out to protest. Not very effective probably but I can't think of anything else to do. Write useless letters maybe.

Those poor fur farm owners. I hope they're compensated for their loss.

Its like why do the Japanese still hunt whales? There is no reason to anymore. No one needs whale meat or whale oil. Leave the damned whales alone.
