GOP Voter Reg Fraud EXPANDS to OUTRIGHT Document FORGERY
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 12:51 AM by Land Shark

REPUBLICANS FRAUDULENTLY SWITCHING PARTY REGISTRATIONS; FORGED DOCUMENTS; PERJURY CHARGES FILED; ONE ARREST MADE SO FAR

"Election officials and lawmakers have {recently} launched investigations into the activities of {Young Political Majors} YPM workers in Florida and Massachusetts. In Arizona, the firm was recently a defendant in a civil rights lawsuit. Prosecutors in Los Angeles and Ventura counties {in California} say they are investigating complaints about the company." http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fraud18-2008oct18,0,1216330.story

A second LA Times article is perfectly clear both about Mark Jacoby's personal false registration to vote "at a childhood California address where he no longer lives" so that he could gather signatures in California, and also about the grocery store signature-gathering fraud, and states "dozens of voters said they were duped into registering as Republicans by his firm, Young Political Majors, or YPM." http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fraud20-2008oct20,0,3842357.story

LA TIMES: On October 3, the Public Integrity Unit of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office charged Jacoby with four felonies: two counts of voter registration fraud and two counts of perjury. A warrant was issued for his arrest and bail was set at $50,000. {The arrest was made over the weekend near an Ontario, California hotel}

You Found It First on DU

The above two LA Times stories cover fraudulently tricking voters into signing what they were told was a petition against child molestation. The Malibu Times and the Press Enterprise provide additional facts showing for example that YPM was issued 7000 voter registration cards in one county alone, and that 27 of 33 Democrats interviewed in another California County of Bernardino were shocked to find out their party registrations were switched.

MEDIA HAS YET TO BREAK THE STORY BELOW, WHICH GETS BIGGER:

But YPM apparently also engaged in outright forgery of voter signatures, as confirmed by an August 20, 2008 letter from Registrar Dean Logan.

The cause of this is not CA Secretary of State Debra Bowen's office (as alleged by some Republicans) but outraged voters, dozens of them in one county alone, who discovered their parties were switched, starting in February 2008. According to the complaint to election officials of Tiffany Hoffstetter voters like Hoffstetter are also upset with local election officials like Registrar Dean Logan for his lack of any timely action after the problem first surfaced during the February 2008 primary. Tiffany Hoffstetter has been actually disfranchised in 2 elections now, before getting action from local officials.

(LA Registrar Dean Logan is well known in Washington State, where I lived in 2004, for finding hundreds of ballots in the gubernatorial recount, some of them after the first machine recount, ultimately counted by court order and handing the governorship to Christine Gregoire during the hand recount.)

In an August 20, 2008 letter to student voter Tiffany Hoffstetter, LA County Registrar Dean Logan finally responded to Hofstetter’s repeated complaints:

"We share your concerns that someone falsified your information and signature on a voter registration form and changed your party affiliation. This registration was canceled…"

Registrar Dean Logan went on to say that YPM was not exactly, uh, forthcoming in response to telephone inquiries. It appears that YPM is ducking the investigation:

"our office has made numerous telephone calls to the political organization, Young Political Major (YPM) shown on our records as the organization that issued this form, but staff has been unsuccessful in receiving a response to requests to contact our office."

Logan continued (and this shows that this is not a SOS Bowen-initiated deal per se):

"there have been a few instances in which political organizations appear to intentionally alter registration forms for payment, in our experience we have found this to be an exception." {…} "We will continue efforts {…} to support referral of this case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Public Integrity Division."

Based on the "dozens of other reports" referred to above, a warrant was subsequently issued by the Los Angeles DA for Mark Jacoby's arrest, on the publicized charges, but nothing on this forgery, which is still under investigation, though it is confirmed as a Republican YPM forgery, according to Logan's office's letter.

The forged registration document and the person who is listed as the YPM who forged this document is yet another name besides Mark Jacoby. (or an alias of someone)

Under California law, according to a press release by SOS Bowen’s office, it is perjury to provide false information on a voter registration card. I'm sure forgery is illegal as well, somewhere in the California Codes.

There is a legitimate YPM organization in the LA area, called Young Progressive Majority, that does, inter alia, voter registration. See http://goypm.org/get-involved/ No one should confuse that YPM organization with the Republican YPM whose members are under investigation or criminal charges in several states.

While the ACORN controversy primarily alleges only potential vote “dilution” if any “illegal votes” happened to be cast assuming any "Mickey Mouse" registrations were ever accepted, this case features actual vote disfranchisement/vote denial, where, for example, Tiffany Hoffstetter was unable to vote in 2 Democratic primaries and was uninterested in the Republican absentee ballot she was mailed, and unable to obtain a timely replacement or change in her party registration status.

That's worth repeating:

TIFFANY HOFFSTETTER'S RIGHT TO VOTE WAS STOLEN, TWICE, BY THE REPUBLICAN YPM.

THIS IS NOT "VOTER FRAUD" WHERE NO VOTES WERE CAST, THIS IS TWO COUNTS OF OUTRIGHT THEFT AND DISFRANCHISEMENT VIA FORGERY

Give a shout-out to DU Robinlynne's persistent reporting and poll monitoring which helped lead to the first arrest, and it probably won't be the last arrest in this developing multi-state GOP vote theft frauds.

cuz they already have the MSM and less knowledable people already riled up about dems doing this and dems doing that it will seem more tit for tat than the violation of everything America stands for.

2. Thanks for telling our story Landshark! one for the voters. but as you say there is
much more to it than the papers are saying. Forged documents in our Registrar's office, and 6 public officials refused to act even when we sent them the proof of election fraud months ago!

Only Debra Bowen's election fraud division finally investigated.

We notified the following people, including the appropriate evidence, in the beginning of the summer:
the registrar
Every one of the 5 supervisors of Los Angeles County.
Eric Bauman, the head of the Democratic Party in Los Angeles County.

We got one letter from one Supervisor, Gloria Molina, saying it was not her district.

And one letter, around 6 weeks later, from the Registrar saying he called YPM, and he was waiting for their answer to his phone calls. he also said this was an exception, and her registration would be fixed.

That was all for 2 months.
Then we started writing more serious letters, and contacted Debra Bowen's elciton fraud investigaiton unit.

I just think it needs to be on the record that those officils all knew about the election fraud for a long time and did not act accordingly.

And that we do not know how many alterations have been made to our Diebold voter database.
We feel an audit is in order.

so I guess the question would be whether that action, in up to 4 states now, is adequate to the task or not.

I also found another voter with forged documents. am working on getting that paperwork right now. If real, it will go to Debra Bowen's election fraud division, who took care of this.

4. TO CNN & STAR TRIBUNE - Young Political Majors hired by Cal Repub Party to disenfranchise voters.
LA TIMES is covering this, why aren't you?

The Republican Party CAN'T FIND enough people who actually WANT to register Republican so they have to switch DEMs without their knowledge or consent through deceit.

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fraud20-2008oct20,0,3842357.story

Ontario police arrest man in voter fraud case
Mark Jacoby, who owns a firm hired by the California Republican Party, violated state laws with his own registration, authorities say.

State and local investigators allege that Mark Jacoby fraudulently registered himself to vote at a childhood California address where he no longer lives so he would appear to meet the legal requirement that all signature gatherers be eligible to vote in California. His firm, Young Political Majors, or YPM, collects petition signatures and registers voters in California and other states.

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fraud18-2008oct18,0,1216330.story

It is a bait-and-switch scheme familiar to election experts. The firm hired by the California Republican Party -- a small company called Young Political Majors, or YPM, which operates in several states -- has been accused of using the tactic across the country.

Some also report having their registration status changed to absentee without their permission; if they show up at the polls without a ballot they may be unable to vote.

The Times randomly interviewed 46 of the hundreds of voters whose election records show they were recently re-registered as Republicans by YPM, and 37 of them -- more than 80% -- said that they were misled into making the change or that it was done without their knowledge.

Janett Lemaire, 54, said she told a signature-gatherer in the small Riverside County town of Desert Edge, "I've been a Democrat all my life and I want to stay that way."

But the man "said this has nothing to do with changing how you are registered," Lemaire said. "Then I get a notice in the mail saying I am a Republican. . . . I was very angry."

9. Local WA state blog comment
http://www.horsesass.org/?p=8919

At long last, someone has been arrested for voter registration fraud. Too bad for the McCain campaign it’s a Republican being accused. From The Los Angeles Times:

The owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario late last night on suspicion of voter registration fraud.

State and local investigators allege that Mark Jacoby fraudulently registered himself to vote at a childhood California address where he no longer lives so he would appear to meet the legal requirement that signature gatherers be eligible to vote in California.

Jacoby is accused, according to the article, of duping voters into registering as Republicans by presenting them with a fake initiative petition that would “crack down on child molesters.

13. Anyone remember Nathan Sproul's "America Votes" org. from 2004? Same shit, different year.
Not to be confused, of course, with the progressive "America Votes" organization.

Interesting how almost the exact same game plan gets played out- organization with similar name to progressive group, misrepresentation to voters, trashed registrations, deliberate party-based disenfranchisement, etc.

It would be nice if some law enforcement agency got to the bottom of who is actually driving this shit, wouldn't it?

You think the Neocons won't stoop that low, to forge a disqualifying birth certificate for Obama?

Remember, they forged the "Nigerian Yellowcake document" and were prepared to fly a plane "painted with UN colors over Iraqi airspace" to provoke war.

But we're in the tiny minority. I'll be expatriating myself before the inauguration. I expect Obama's first crisis to be a Neocon-staged Colombian-based false flag "Barack's Bay Of Pigs" designed to drive a wedge between Obama & Chavez/the Latin "Left" so as to prevent any utopia from taking root. They'll do anything, and they excel at being outsiders throwing stones & sabotaging.

so pleased to see, of course.

A lot of people of even dubious political affiliations, I think, are very scared that their party should have become so debased as to put forward a gentleman whose age is really catching up with, and less than a heart-beat from the presidency, a lady of such extremely limited intellectual and political capacities.

I would think, also, that judges and the FBI would not want to found by an incoming Democratic Government, to have been culpably derelict in their office, by complicity with Republicans at whatever level, in protecting thoroughgoing felons, possibly, massive electoral fraud and voter suppression by the latter, notwithstanding,

Maybe someone should go downtown to 501 S. 3rd and check it out?

50. Check ALSO that they aren't changing spellings of names and addresses...
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 11:50 AM by calipendence
I'm hoping that Debra Bowen got that election fraudulent "DMV matching" software cleaned up that would have thrown out voter registrations if they were spelled differently than what was in DMV records. If these GOP fraudsters were altering registrations by spelling out middle names instead of leaving them as initials (which a voter might have dilligently done), then in some states (even if not currently in California - Thank GOD we elected Debra Bowen as SOS), switching party affiliations might be just a cover for switching other details to have Democrats voter registrations thrown out altogether and show up as Republicans that had been thrown out instead of Democrats. A lot of that DMV-matching FRAUD is happening now in other states. We should be checking to see if this isn't more "effectively" happening in other states!

51. This party switching happened here in Orange County
in '06. A good friend - anti-war/b*sh activist had her party switched to publican. (She had re-registered w/ an address change. It was publicans doing the registration.) They picked the wrong person cuz she raised hell. When she did other democrats came forward w/ their switch stories. OC Democratic Party sued the OC publican party. In the end the OC publican party paid the OC Democratic Party a very large sum of money.

Publicans can't help it. The temptation to cheat, steal 'n lie just overwhelms them. If there is no 'daddy' around to say "NO", they just surrender to it.

60. Perhaps an upside
The voter fraud is detestible and criminal. Fortunately, having one's party changed should not prevent voting in the November 4 election. But the change does have an impact on polls and statistics, falsely increasing the number of registered Republicans. This could lead to statics showing increased numbers of Republicans voting for Barack Obama.

63. election fraud. voter fraud would be a voter falsely voting, whihc is the myth the republicans
create to scare people, and create great projects like elciton IDS (which actually prvent more people from voting, as opposed to saving us from the fkae voters). Voter fraud jsut doesn't happen. it is a republican scare tactic. According to one amazing attorney on this list, they are creating the fear of voter fraud in Ohio right now, so they can challenge the entire election if Obama wins.....

61. K & R.-- Republican apparently stands for Righteousness and
what most psychiatrists call "projection" wherein they blame others for the failings that they manifest more often than others do.

65. Anatomy of Fox spin.
This is how Fox reported on this story today. This is how Fox operates. This is how our government operates.

1. Fox said Jacoby was arrested for registering to vote using his childhood home address.
2. Fox said Jacoby's lawyer stated that he got his mail at this address.
3. Fox said the complaint against Jacoby was from a a legislator with ties to ACORN (CA Secretary of State Bowen)
4. No mention of previous complaints against YPM from many other states from many other years.
5. No mention of the lying to get signatures on their 'petitions', which resulted in registering Dems as 'pugs.
6. Fos said Jacoby denies any wrong doing.

I watch Fox and am unaplogetic. If you want to see how the government works, watch Fox...there is a direct link from Rove's lips to Fox's ear. And it is a good way to see what products NOT to buy. For example, their main advertiser, freecreditreport. is not free. And if you can't watch Fox, check www.newshounds.org

They watch Fox so you don't have to.
