Three weeks out and the clock ticks slowly, what are you doing to relax?
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 12:32 AM by RiverStone
Normally, I have no desire for time to go by quickly --- I far prefer to savor the moment. Many here on DU seem to drift back and forth between optimism and panic, euphoria and paranoia.

OMG, Obama will be our next president! :woohoo:

OMG, what will the pukes do between now and election day to freak people out?! :freak:

It can all be a little...

What are you doing to get through the next 3 weeks with relative sanity?

2. My dear RiverStone...
I write poetry...

And tonight I got to read some of it at the local coffee house! It went well, and I'm feeling no pain...

:)

Glad your at peace. :)

9. HA! I almost bought an entire apple pie just for myself last night
Thankfully, a single blueberry muffin intervened!

Of course, the more I eat - the more I (try to) exercise - the better I sleep - the less time I'm awake late at night on DU.

Ummm, I think I need to get that pie after all!

20. That may be the only kind of pie I've never had.
Pretty similar to pumpkin I would think; no?

7. I like to make a little recipe, called "stress relief cake"...
First I take a brownie mix and make it in the microwave. Then, I pour a jar of fudge
on the cooked brownie. Drench in caramel sauce. Then deep fry. When cooled, douse
with whipped cream, a cherry, more fudge, more caramel, marshmallows and 2 cups of
cashews.

Eat with big, wooden spoon.

12. Getting by
I take the motorcycle out every day and ride down the shore road. Sometimes East to the Robert Moses. Sometimes I go west to Long Beach, but he result is the same after riding for a while the crap slowly flows out of my brain. How about the rain, you might ask. Sometimes with the right gear, it is actually better, requires total attention and bit of brain power I have just to keep the black side down. After a ride like that, a nice hot cup of roobus and a blanket are the real reward.

14. Going Camping/Roadtripping this weekend
We have a camper van/rv and plan to take it to Pa this weekend to Amish Country. I spent last weekend watching the news and getting crazy so we decided to hit the road this weekend. That always keeps me sane. We might do a Skyline Drive trip soon, too and we're looking at taking the whole week of Thanksgiving and going to Savannah. That's after the election, but the planning should keep my brain occupied. I just pray it's a celebratory trip.

15. I have pulled up the carpet out of the family room,
and will spend the next few days cleaning, painting, and laying new tile. That is not as much to relax, but to keep myself so busy (and exhausted), I won't spend time worrying about all the money we have lost the last couple weeks.
My husband has foot surgery a week from Friday, and will be home recovering for about 3 weeks. :wow:

My sanity is officially on hiatus. I'll let you know if it ever comes back home.

It keeps me sane while I listen to everything I possibly can. I'm too excited about the election to let a shred of news go by without me...

21. Hmmmm.
Hi,

I'm getting ready for the duck hunting opener in my part of California.

Figure that I'll be so tired by election day that I'll be to tuckered out to say 'yippee' when all the republicans get sent to siberia.

Hey, my first post here! Didn't even know this board existed until about 15 minutes ago.

slow

26. I am relaxed right now but I won't be next week.
I will be working early voting at a very busy voting location, we will vote over 20,000 voters.

I am tired already, but happy to be part of history.

I don't know how much sanity I will have in a few weeks.

Wish me well.
