The idea that Bush might use 'troops on the street' to block the election or anything else
. . . doesn't take into account the millions of Americans who would immediately leave their homes to surround the White House, without any regard at all for life or limb. I'm one of them.

4. I can't see those soldiers carrying out orders that went against the
Constitution and the People.

If they did, holy hell. All things change.

7. Wolf says that a law passed in 2007 made the whole world a possible...
...battlefield for terrorism ~ so it would be legal for Bush to order them to strike their fellow citizens. Scary stuff!

15. The military has been giving to Obama 5 or 6 to 1 - I would hope that...
...this brigade would refuse Bush's orders to go against voters fighting fraud.

13. Terrifying. I am getting her new book tomorrow.
Just so I can be sufficiently scared. I know the pieces are in place, but I just cannot see the worst case happening, I won't allow that visualization.

But, I would like to be informed, anyway.

16. I was so upset after seeing that video...
Tried to get the book but our local store is out of it. Not sure I want it anyway.

Maybe working the campaign and positive visualization is more helpful now ~ we've finally reached critical mass; just have to keep the momentum going until Election Day!

11. Here's the link:

Wolf is asking for donations for a defense fund to help soldiers who refuse orders against U.S. citizens.

2. As am I.
It is not an option, IMO. Far too many people, reasonable level-headed people would see any such act as a deal-breaker. No more. We wouldn't take it.

It won't happen. And, if it does, it will be the birth of a new nation.

We voted twice in the CIvil War...
...and at least once in all the others. I don't worry about the election being cancelled. I don't even worry about it being stolen. I worry about it being ineptly run, which could have some of the same effect.

Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 09:13 PM by DS1
I will be a part of that

I didn't sign up in the first place to let someone shit on the Constitution. I signed up to defend it. My brothers in arms will likely do the same, that includes the Marines holding the White House and our Embassies.

17. Paraguay is no longer a haven for criminals. There's an extradition treaty in place now.
Our war criminals will have to go to Dubai, I suppose.

21. "The idea that Bush might spy on American citizens..."
"The idea that Bush might start an illegal war based on lies..."

It's always unthinkable, until he goes and does it.

Then people like you always say, "but no one could have foreseen it!" - except, of course, for those of us who DID.

I think the risks for Bush, in this case, outweigh the benefits for him. He's lazy and ready to leave. Now, if you drew up a scenario where Cheney somehow did away with him, and then . . .
