I guess my husband could be a "Joe Sixpack", he's a union member, blue collar and drinks beer. He also target shoots at a pistol club. He hated Palin, thought she was talking to him like she was the kindergarten teacher and he was a child.

I'm not a hockey mom. My teenage son does not play hockey, he plays guitar, is capable of independent critical thinking, and can't stand the jock mentality that team sports tends to foster. He also doesn't have drug/alcohol problems or an arrest record necessitating "maturity rehab" by the armed forces.

About the Joe six-pack thing. If all the fundies are so in love with her, are they not offended by equating drinking alcohol to being a typical American? My Dad made the comment that "if she is so concerned about how foreigners perceive everything the candidates say, then why does she not see that this term is offensive to people in other countries as well as a lot of people in the Bible Belt?" My Dad is certainly no prude, but he has a point. We live in the Bible Belt and a lot of people are totally against drinking. Here we are in 2008 and so many smaller towns around us are just now voting on if they should have liquor by the drink restaurants. Our city went through this over 20 years ago. If you want commerce,you have to have it. Simple. You still have a lot of fundies rallying against it though. Hope that Palin's little soundbite comes back to bite her.
