What are the odds that now the House Democrats will refuse to approve the
new "improved" bailout bill that just passed the Senate?

2. In the end, it will pass the House.
They will tinker with it for a while, but I believe it will pass this week.

5. Does this bill ensure a long depression?
I'm not sure... but by our Govt buying up all the toxic paper in the system, aren't we going down the same road that Japan took? They did the same thing 20 years ago and they are still in a recession. Have we basically risked a 2 or 3 year moderate Recession and traded it for a 20 year extended depression? Or maybe compare it to the German Wiemar Republic in 1919-1929? They ran the printing presses day and night to pay back war damages and inflation went to the moon. The third Reich and Nationalism then followed along with Hitler. Are we next?
