So what if McCain votes no on the bailout bill?
I've seen grumblings (but no real evidence) that's his strategy and that it would tip the odds back in his favor since the bill is so very unpopular. Do you think it would? Also, can you find polling data or other concrete supporting evidence to back that claim up?

1. He will look obstructionist. Wall Street investors (and there are a lot of them) would have his head
I'm pretty he'll vote yes if he thinks it will pass. He'll go with the flow.

2. He won't
But, if he had any balls he'd vote against it and support Marcy Kaptur & Peter DeFazio plan.

3. I picked up on this idea at PoE-News.
See link: http://www.poe-news.com/forums/sp.php?pi=1001831251

They seem to think that he will vote no and that that will catapult him to victory. I can't figure out what that theory is based on, however, and may simply be missing sarcasm or something.

4. he'll vote opposite of Obama
no matter which way Obama votes or doesn't vote - mccain is going to bash him for it.

if Obama votes for the bill, mccain will come out and say Obama is siding with Wall Street

if Obama votes against the bill, mccain will come out and say Obama doesn't care about Main Street

it will be interesting to see who votes first...

McCain: After you Senator Obama

Obama: No,no - you go first Senator McCain

McCain: but I insist you should vote first

Obama: I bow to seniority in the senate, you first

McCain: NO NO NO - you first

5. You know, that thought crossed my mind.
The initial bill was soundly denounced by the majority of the American public, but with the market dropping 770 pts the other day, I think it scared the bejeezus out of people. I'm now hearing that emails and calls to Congress are running 50/50 for/against. So, I think he will vote for it...too much political jeopardy otherwise.
