I predict Hillary won't run
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 08:00 PM by jaysunb
I've been wrong before --once--:evilgrin:but I believe she'll fold her " exploratory" committee before fall.

Inquiring minds want to know , huh ?

Aside from the fact that, once target- specific polling is done, it will show that she does not have the support of the base.

Well...there's no win without the base, and blacks plus the net/grassroots are the base. She can't win that crowd.

This race is about 2 people right now, Gore & Obama. Once Obama has headed Hillary in the early primary State polls ( which will probably include California) Gore will step in and we'll have our 08 ticket.

Come September,or a little later Sen Clinton will decide to end her exploratory conversation.

BTW: todays my birthday , so maybe that's why I'm taking license to wish--for the above.

Mr. Tesha and I are very reliable voters in the New Hampshire
primary and political activists to boot, and we'll be doing our
part to help grant your wish!

We've already been polled several times regarding this exact
question (of support for Hillary, Inc.).

God, what a disaster it would be. She would have no chance of winning, but would probly pull 10% of the vote away from the Dem candidate. Crazed feminists, God knows who all. It would be worse than Nader. Or Nadir, as I usually think of him.

Second, I just signed the Draft Gore petition in your honor.

Third, I wouldn't rule out Edwards from all that calculating. For that matter, I wouldn't rule out Hill. For one thing, neither NH or IA has much of a black population, so she could score OK in the early rounds. Maybe.

Gore-Obama? Well, why not? If I can't have Gore-Feingold, I mean.

14. What evidence is there that's she's not popular
with Dem primary voters? I hate to burst your bubble, but there's a lot more to the Democratic Party than DU. BTW, why in the world would she run if she didn't think she had at least a good shot at winning the nomination and the general election? She's not stupid.

And happy birthday!

My political awareness extends well beyond DU, thank you very much.
The political dynamics have changed radically in this country. Past models are all but obselete in the climate we are now in.
The Nov. election was a precurser to another generational and ideological shifts in American politics, the most recent being the 1980 Reagan election.
60% of those that go to the polls in 08 will have been born since 1966. For the most part they see racism as relics of my generation. They'll see themselves in Obama and their mother or older aunt in Hillary.

As others above have said, " she'll have to beaten well to get her out" I just think reality will kick in when the country gets serious about the 08 election, and that should be around the fall of 07.

17. Hillary will NOT fold. She's entitled. She's persistent.
And she will do the same thing as her husband. Bill could have resigned
and let Gore take office when he was caught lying to EVERYBODY about Monica. But he did not do the honorable thing because what was best for the country was not what he was interested in doing.

Hillary will fight this all the way.

20. The "honorable thing" was not resigning
Why would he let the GOP chase him out of office for something that wasn't even an impeachable offense? Plus, he had an approval rating over 60 percent. The majority of voters didn't want him to go anywhere. And if you think Gore as president would've made him a shoo-in in 2000, think again.

You act as if she has no right to run. Let's allow the voters to decide, OK?

24. She has every right to do whatever she wishes--just my point.
Clinton eventually came around to the honorable thing--which was admitting that he lied to his Vice-President, the Cabinet, the American people. I could give a rat's ass that he also lied to his wife.

I still say the honorable thing to do would have been to resign.

:eyes:

I really don't give a shit Clinton lied about a blowjob. It had nothing to do with me or his job. It was none of my business. RW bastards manipulated him into that position knowing he would lie about it. It was a set-up and I think he knew it. No way should he have given in to those assholes by resigning.

39. Clinton betrayed the trust of his Cabinet, his Vice-president and the
American people. The right-wing would have never gotten off the ground with all their shit if, when first caught in the lie, he had admitted it
and resigned. But, the whole thing would have been avoided if he'd never lied about it to start.

Lying is the problem. In my lifetime, it started with Nixon and Watergate. Then it was Reagan and Iran Contra. Bill and his blowjob.
Look where we've ended up! Nothing but lies and distortions for the last 6 years.

It is NOT ok to lie. Period. It has nothing to do with giving the right wing what they wanted--it has to do with being honest with the American people and worthy of their trust.

What he did was none of our business and had no place in the public eye. The RW did that and the RW set him up. They knew he would lie just like they knew most in his position would. That impeachment was a farce.

The lies and distortions in the last six years aren't Clinton's fault. We didn't end up where we are because of him.

If Clinton had resigned we would have been much worse off, IMO. 24/7 it would be Clinton resigned in disgrace..blah, blah, blah. RW media and talking heads wouldn't have shutup about it.

He did the right thing in NOT resigning.

As far as Hillary goes, I think she has as good as chance as anyone running at this time. BUT, if or when Al Gore enters the races it all over but the crying for anyone else to win. He is exactly what our country needs and he will be the next President of the USA if he will run.

32. Gore will probably not run and Hillary is definitely in, it's all about the $
Hillary wouldn't be raising all of the money that she has if she wasn't running. She is betting that her financial advantage and name recognition will put her over the top and there's some serious weight to that argument.

Gore isn't out and he has the luxury of being able to enter late if he wants to. But he hasn't even begun taking the preliminary steps needed to run. I'd say that as things stand now, unless Gore is somehow convinced otherwise, he isn't running.

then you get the women.

Or in this case, um, well...I honestly don't know what politicians of the female persuasion get. Maybe better credit card rates or something.

Anyway, Hillary's nomination practically feels like a fait accomplie at this point.

If you have not noticed, the Clintons do not lose elections.

Also, if you have noticed, once Hillary makes a decision, she does not back now. She is probably the toughest Democratic politician out there. The primaries are going to be fascinating because she is going bludgeon everyone to the point that we either select Hillary or whatever competitor she has spent six months trying to paint as history's greatest monster.
