Did ya ever watch a child's top fall over?
If you take a child's top or one of those little gyroscopes that used to be so popular with children and give it a good spin it will stand there for the longest time without wavering much at all. Its just the most amazing thing. After a while though the thing will start to wobble. That tells you its getting ready to fall. First it wobbles just a little bit, then it wobbles more, and then it wobbles a lot more. The gyrations become larger and larger and finally the system fails, the top falls over.

All systems are like that. Over time they decay and when they begin their death knell they do it by straying from the norm ever larger swings until they simply fall.

Yesterday the market was down 700. Today its up 500. Last week's swings were half that much. There was a time when a 50 point day would make the news. Just like a kid's top.

1. When the Dow was around 5000 those 50 point swings were shocking
I guess it's all in the percentages.

2. The system will continue
But it will swing out like that until we re-regulate

Or we move to a fascist state

My worries are based on the latter

Think Weimar Germany...

4. And we even have our own Rule 49 (which originated with the Weimar Republic)
People (at least the ones who know anything at all about the rise of Nazi power in Germany) seem to think that it was Hitler that instigated the infamous Rule 49, but in fact it had been in place since immediately after "The Great War." George got one too.
