Sarah Palin: Member of the John Birch Society?
There's an interesting thread going on over at GD : P that would point to VP nominee being a member or at least subscriber to the John Birch Society. That's like really bad, right? If you look at the publication on her desk it's called "American Opinion" and it's the official JBS magazine.

If she has sympathies for or was a member of the John Birch Society, that would be like:

REALLY GOOD FOR OBAMA!

10. I know what you mean!
John Birch Society = Bad. :)

This is important to note: I don't believe for a moment that this woman was vetted.
First, there is the connection to the Alaska Independence Party. Her husband actually was registered with this party.
Now a photo of her with a periodical that may be connected to the John Birch Society. Well, if it is from JBS she needs to be questioned about it.

5. We have many DUers that spew Birch positions on isolationism, trade and immigration.

8. One very interesting thing about the photo
It makes it quite clear that she is nearsighted, at least in her left eye.

It completely debunks the "The glasses are just for show" theory.

9. Neocons are to the right of Birchers
Supported with the money of the same nutballs. Birchers weren't loony enough, so they founded Heritage and AEI. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out she sympathizes with the Birchers. We let that Alaska Constitution Party story go way too quickly.

11. In her acceptance speech Palin quoted Westbrook Pegler
Pegler was thrown out of the John Birch Society in 1964 for his raving hatred of Jews.
Perhaps Palin is to the right of the JBS?

12. That's probably one of the reasons why they chose her...
She would make appropriate Supreme Court Judge appointments should she be put into a position to pick (at least in the mind of a Neo Con).

13. Amazing catch. SEND TO MEDIA!!
Even on the right, most people don't approve of John Birch Society. It will make her very popular with 5% of the population, but damn if suburban hockey moms are John Birchers.

This is powerful - this was her promo photo and she provided it to the NY Times. You don't as a council member of a small town have all sorts of publications coming by. She had it because she was receiving it, and she was receiving it because she was a member.

They'd better start asking and investigating NOW.
