My Prediction, Polls Will Dramatically Swing to Democrats Over the Next 5 Days
I'm going out on a limb here and here's why.

(1). Banking Meltdown--The around the clock coverage of bank failures and market collapses has refocused this campaign on the economy. This is to the Democrats advantage. If we can put Phil Gramm, John McCain, George Bush and the Republican philosophy of deregulation in the spotlight, we will regain our vote spread on the subject of the economy.

(2). the crisis has really marginalized Sarah Palin, and emphasizes the need for smart, educated, thoughtful leadership and pushes "American Idle" politics to the back seat.

(3). The Obama campaign's new, more aggressive style will move the polls further. The media, even Fox News and KKKarl Rove are criticizing the out right lies and deliberate distortions of the McCain Campaign. This will undermine the McCain-Palin ticket's credibility and hurt them on this and every other issue.

3. I don't think it'll be a dramatic shift, but I do think
that in a week, it'll be Obama who's up a few points.

4. From your keyboard to God's modem!
All Obama has to do is hold up a newpaper, point to the headline and ask, "How much more of this do you want? How much more can your wallet take?" Sheesh.

6. Even funnier if he pulled out some lipstick and circled those headlines
just to contrast how much they are trying to distract from real issues.

7. Yes, The Worm Has Turned
This place tends to become short attention span theater. It wasn't three weeks ago we were digging Gramp's grave with one of whichever houses he was living in and many thought things would go smoothly after the DNC. Welcome to bloodsport...the corproate media and the large election culture that has evolved would never live for that. What changed was Gramps was able to turn the election into a popularity contest...hoping to stay away from both issues of substance and boooosh. The ruse was working in the intial RNC bump...but a lot was just a consolidation of the "base"...and polls that skew toward likely voters and use past models that don't show a full picture of what's going on on the ground. But so be it.

This election always has been about issues...no matter what the teevee says. The spinners get paid nice coin to say black is white and the cables need to fill airtime with drama...issues aren't as sexy as lipstick and Camp Gramps ended up getting too smart for their own good. By picking Grandma Barracuda, they opened up a media war they thought they could dominate, but are finding some pushback. Palin is turning into a distraction as they are forced to put resources to keep her on a short leash, while Gramps fumbles along without having her to get the attention. His lies and desperation have gotten to such a level it's getting hard for his campaign to keep it up...they're literally spinning themselves into exhaustion. They're not done...far from it...but this media blitz has run it's self-life and it's done serious damage to Gramps. His POW reputation is now a joke, his "straight talk" has been replace by "pathological liar" and the pick of Palin shows a wreckless, political move that surely wasn't done to put country ahead of election.

Senators Obama and Biden are right in the place they need to be for speaking out...and showin alternatives as to what can and should be done here. The need to impose and ENFORCE regulations (most that have been abused for years) is a first start...and the case can also be made for Democrats going for the House & Senate as those who can really act quickly and effectively. The corruption of the booosh years is just too rampant and has led to so much destruction that Gramps can't put lipstick on that pig or try to transform himself into Gramps 2.0.

Cheers...

10. Althought that would be great but I don't care where the easily manipulated polls go...
I care where the VOTES go and I'm hoping and praying that it's a landslide for Obama/Biden and all the Dems running for Congress and Senate (especially the Senate... I want to see that POS LIEberman rendered inconsequential.)

For 100 years, Democrats have made laws and created programs that have helped America's working class. Child Labor Laws, 40 hour work week, week ends off, paid holidays, equal pay for women, workmen's comp., unemployment benefits, social security, OSHA, the right to organize, the right to collectively bargain, Family and Medical leave Act, American's with disabilities act. I'm sure there's more. Each one these rights was won over Republican opposition.

Now, can you name one, just one advancement for workers that Republicans initiated and supported in the last 100 years?

That's why the new campaign focus on the economy benefits Barack and the Democrats. People instinctively return to what they know is right, because of their heritage. It's what they learned from their Fathers and grandfathers, their Mothers and Grandmothers. Democrats protect the rights of working Americans.

14. I have a buddy who's a McCain supporter...
...but he told me today that the election was basically lost for McCain by all this recent financial news. As much as I'd like to believe that, I really don't think your average blue collar voter believes the banking collapse has any impact on people outside of Wall St. Even if they DID believe it affects them, there's been nothing high-profile to really impress on "low-information" voters the fact that the Republicans are responsible...nor that McCain's top economic adviser may even bear more responsibility than McCain or even Bush himself.

Those guys don't care about all that shit. Sorry, but I can't get optimistic over this. Investment banking is too complex of an issue to sway your average voter.
