1. Herbert Hoover said the exact same thing in 1929
McCain is using a really old playbook.

2. Herbert Hoover Quotes
It is just as important that business keep out of government as that government keep out of business.

Economic depression cannot be cured by legislative action or executive
pronouncement. Economic wounds must be healed by the action of the
cells of the economic body - the producers and consumers themselves.
Herbert Hoover

:hi:

While his economic views were a joke, I use his engineering quote as my sig. I still think he got that quote spot on.

4. It reminds me of the newspaper headlines...
...in the days and weeks leading up to the 1929 Wall Street crash.

I did a research paper back in my college days, for a history of US journalism class. Very interesting. Just like now, the established newspapers were extremely slow on the uptake. You might say they were in a state of denial. In fact, you might say they were propping up a house of cards, or whistling past the graveyard...

Yes, what's going on today certainly brings that back into sharp focus for me.

5. Has anyone catch the parade of "experts" on various NPR shows
today desperatly trying to convince everyone that as long as the economy didn't "seize up" we weren't headed toward the next Great Depression? (No need to make a run on your bank! The FDIC will save you!)

Very reassuring. You could actually hear the fear in Mark Zandi's voice on TOTN today. That was a couple hours before the market dropped 500 points. I'm thinking Depends for these shills are in order at this point.
