Poll question: Halliburton's move to Dubai: Why now? why dubai?

The democrats are in power, and at least three of them, Cong. Waxman included, have shown themselves to have a spine - and a word processor.
Waxman will be issuing subpeonas galore, about waste, fraud, abuse, theft, and graft caused by or involving Haliburton and its subsidiaries.

On another note, Cheney is planning his invasion of Iran without any regard to public opinion, congress, financing, a broken military, the UN or anything else. His speach today before AIPAC (a fitting venue) sounded more like a war cry than anything else. Iran is clearly in his gunsights.

It is illegal for US corporations to do business with Iran. Once we get through bombing it to the MCLVIII century, there will be plenty of business to be had.

So which is the reason for Haliburton's move? to have a ready made excuse to shred and shed billions of incriminating documents? or to steal the US taxpayer blind a fourth time? (afghanistan, iraq, NOLA, Iran)

DUBAI has no rules. It's the wild west. They like MONEY.

I have posted in the past about how the joint is run by seven bastards in thobes. They have the gold, they make the rules. Absolute rule. No rights for the citizenry.

If you are in with those fuckers, you have it made. They're like the damn royal family in the film, Syriana, but without as much oil.

Seven well-diversified bastards from one family, they take turns being the head honcho.

Where can you find an easier group of bastards to deal with? They're all on the same page, you don't have to worry about a change at the head of the government screwing your deals, it's a small enough bunch, well controlled by the Seven, that you don't have a massive problem of assholes everywhere wanting a piece of the action....it's a perfect place, from that perspective. You tell them what you want the law to be, they make it so.

It's also a perfect crossroads from a national security perspective. Everyone has their dick in that pot, because there are, as I said, no rules. It's Switzerland during WW2, only hotter, though equally lacking in a moral compass.

You wanna talk off line to Iran, North Korea, any pariah nation? Do it in Dubai. It's the Wild, Wild West.....

But how far can they go? If a corporation (domestic or foreign) refuses to comply with congressional investigations, I doubt they will be welcome to do business in the US. Are the secrets they're hiding so damaging that they're willing to sacrifice 60% of the world's defense spending and god only knows how much of the world's petroleum services spending?
