Palm Beach and voting - once again

A candidate for a Palm Beach judge race who was ahead by 17 votes on election night but who lost in a recount where ballots went missing has filed suit asking to be named the winner.

Challenger William Abramson was leading Circuit Judge Richard Wennet after an initial count of 102,523 ballots. That triggered a recount, but the second count turned up some 3,500 fewer ballots. It also put the incumbent Wennet ahead by 60 votes.

Election officials launched a massive search Friday for the missing ballots, though nearly 1,000 were found before the search began.

The election was the first time in Palm Beach and 14 other counties since the state outlawed touch-screen voting machines.
