And they are parading this woman around who's biggest issue was whether polar bears should be on the endangered species list and her daughter is pregnant at 17 and hasn't been in school since God knows when?

3. Because anyone carrying the populist banner represents a threat to the news media.
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 04:50 PM by Selatius
The news media is owned by some of the largest corporations in the world. The same corporations that would stand to be taxed out of billions in profits if a left wing president came in on a platform of taxing the rich to pay for social programs to provide opportunities to the poor. Those corporations don't want that.

That is why John Edwards got less air time than Hillary or Obama. He was ignored like Dennis Kucinich, but Edwards was far, far more effective at raising cash.

Whether or not Edwards was the next coming of FDR isn't the point anymore. What matters is that the corporations no longer have to find out if he puts his money where his mouth is if he got into the White House in 2009.

5. baloney. Johnie Hedge Fund was no threat to the MSM
and he got plenty of press early on. furthermore he never did shit for the poor. You want a populist champion? Think Bernie or Sherrod Brown or Dennis. Not that phony creep John war monger Edwards.

6. What bugs me is people still legitimize the corporate press with "MSM"
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 08:41 AM by Selatius
There is nothing mainstream about corporate control of the news media. If anything, it more resembles the virulent anti-democratic news outlets in Venezuela that supported the violent overthrow of a democratically elected leader.

Sure, JE wasn't as left wing as Kucinich or even that socialist Bernie Sanders, but for a lot of working class voters, he sounded like he cared for them, even though he had no real track record of populism or even simply leftism in his time as senator. There won't be another FDR until after there is a Great Depression.
