Obama campaign is happy to stay low-key this week
FOCUS SHIFTS TO SMALL EVENTS

CHICAGO — Barack Obama's presidential campaign can hardly believe its luck this week. Coming off a well-received convention where 40 million TV viewers saw Obama's acceptance speech, the Democratic nominee made three nightly appearances in battleground states that each drew 14,000 or more people.

Meanwhile, the start of the Republican convention was blown off course by Hurricane Gustav and questions surrounding vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

*** snip ***McCain tried to interrupt Obama's post-convention momentum by announcing his choice of Palin, the Alaska governor, on Friday morning, about 12 hours after Obama's big speech in Denver. The strategy looks dubious in retrospect, as questions about Palin's role in a state employee's firing, plus news of her teenage daughter's pregnancy, dominated political media accounts over the Labor Day weekend.

1. Time To Organize
No need to be an attention whore like Gramps was during the DNC. Let the GOOP figure keep spewing their venom and turning off more moderates and independents. The contrasts between the two conventions are so obvious...no need to try to steal their insanity.

Let them play their silly games and then next week the show really begins...

2. I think Obama will shred McCain in a debate.
We might even get to see a McCain eruption/meltdown on live TV. McCain reminds me of the Chief inspector in that old movie, 'A shot In The Dark' Maybe McCain will also be reduced to gnawing on Obama's leg at the end of the debate.

I think Joe Biden will pounce on the beauty queen and have her looking like a whipped puppy too.

Our guys shouldn't pull a single punch because it's a sure thing the other side won't.

I think the storm set the tone for McCain's entire run for the top spot. McCain is not just running against Obama and Biden, he's running away from George Bush and Dick Cheney and he's carrying the war and a failing economy on his back. The best shot the GOP has is tampering with the vote count.

3. When your opponents are shooting themselves in the foot, don't get in their way.
That's an old political saying which is certainly operative this week.

The story for last week was:

OBAMA PICKS QUALITY VP IN BIDEN, GIVES HISTORIC SPEECH TO 38 MILLION AMERICANS.

The story for this week is:

MCCAIN IMPULSIVELY PICKS PROBLEM RIDDEN NEWCOMER WITH FAMILY PROBLEMS and LITTLE EXPERIENCE.
