Riveting satellite image: double-whammy storms approach USA
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 04:47 PM by SpiralHawk

Original Update
We are continuing to watch two Tropical Storms.

First, Tropical Storm Gustav, which is starting to leave Jamaica, and approach the Cayman Islands. Hurricane Warnings are up for the Cayman Islands. People there should rush preparations to completion. Beyond that, Gustav has a chance to clip the western coast of Cuba, or enter the Yucatan Channel and has a window for rapid intensification somewhere between Jamaica and the west coast of Cuba.

2. Is it just me, or is Gustav moving REALLY SLOW?
IIRC, that's how Katrina rose to such city-destroying intensity.

6. Exactly right
Picking up all that moisture from the Gulf.

It's already a Category 3. That's not good.

7. It's supposed to pick up speed in the Gulf
and be a pretty fast moving storm. Remember, though, it wasn't the wind speed that did the damage. It was the torrential rain.

Hanna, on the other hand, is projected to mosey around east of any land until her tops get sheared off and she poops out.
