The big danger I see leading up to the election is not McCain nor Palin, but
the media. Watch them ignore Obama and the Democrats as much as they can get away with it and fill the print, the TV screens and the radio waves with McCain/Palin stories ad nauseum, especially Palin because she's attractive. Those of you who were pro-Obama and pro-Hillary didn't notice this during the primaries, but there was a deliberate effort to not report on the other candidates like Kucinich, Edwards and Richardson et al to make them not exist. The only time any one of them got traction was when they made a misstep that was then played over and over again excluding everything else they had done that was positive.

How do we prevent them from doing this? Get to your keyboards and start writing LTTE and emails every time they noticeably do this. Even getting LTTE published helps. Call into all the radio programs that are spinning lies if you don't mind being dumped on. Being factual and not getting emotional will get the message out. We can no longer afford to let them get away with lies, innuendo and other disinformation. This is war.

2. This is why we have to be diligent in counteracting this.
It's up to us the people. People like Thom Hartmann, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow can only do so much.

15. Not wishful thinking at all
I don't want that to happen! Instead, I'm afraid it will.

3. 38 million people watched Obama's speech last night...
people know this country is in trouble...I think many of that 38 million have made up their minds already.

6. We still can't let down our guard.
I don't know if you ever played intramural sports in high school. But how many times did your team get to the last playoff to be knocked out of the competition by a team that never should have won. It was because your team got too confident and let down their guard.

14. It isn't. It's going to be hard because the corporate RW has control of the
media. They know how to effectively do propaganda.

5. Many Of Us Have Been Saying That...
There are two medias to deal with. First is the corporate media that still is in the bag for the GOOP...spoiled by the "access" and have benefitted from the games played in the beltway. Many of these big egos and don't have to worry about healthcare or losing their homes or jobs...no matter how wrong they are. We got a big taste of how arrogant and divisive they are. Fortunately millions are fed up with them...and are turning to blogs and other alternative sources for their prime source of information...and with it, their lies and distortions are exposed.

The other is hate radio and religious radio...IMHO where Palin's pick was aimed. Without this "base" that writes checks, Gramps would be in a real hole. There's little to counter these zealots but the truth, and to stand up to not just the goons who pollute our public airwaves with their hatred and slime, but to those who parrot their talking points. We should never stand down to any of these shitstains...and ridicule and embarass them at every step.

While these forces need to be confronted, our jobs are to work the grassroots...under the radar and make sure our messages are delivered personally and with truth and compassion. It's to work toward developing a new media based on the internet...both web sites and internet radio...that will blow through the filters and force the others to do something they haven't had to...be accountable.

Cheers...

7. We can't prevent the media from doing this. WHAT WE CAN DO -------
get out in our communities and talk to people. Work the neighborhoods, knock on doors. This is the ONLY way we can be effective against the pro-corporate media.

It's up to us to convince our fellow Americans what's best for them.

9. Yes, this is more important than ever, but the media
have to be put in check too. We need to attack on all fronts and I see them as the biggest enemy that we have right now.

8. Did you know the media is 90% liberal????
Neither did I, until I read our local weekly rag ( pro Republican) in which they are letting some woman write a 4 part article against Obama,
Her start out sentence is that a " recent Pugh poll shows the mainstream media is 90% per cent liberal".

I am going to be checking her out...

17. Yes.
I wish some legal types would get the SOSs of all the states to disqualify all the voting machines as being unreliable and not capable of delivering accurate results. It would force the precincts to put out paper ballots that would have to be marked manually and voted by hand. I know that there are lawyers who know how to present this to judges in each state for rulings and I don't know why a movement hasn't been started to do this.
