Edited on Sun Aug-24-08 11:23 AM by elehhhhna
1) It'll piss him off, royally.

2) He'll have to reject it publicly, lol

3) It'll reanimate press attention on McMaterialistic's ATROCIOUS veterans advocacy record

4) We'll have a ball with the "Veterans Affairs" angle. tee hee!

1. Just don't put him in charge of Housing.
I do hear he's really excellent at making runs to Starbucks...
maybe he found his true calling serving up Nine Limo Lattes

13. More like the media would crucify him for being presumtuous...
... and insulting to a "POW War-Hero".

Now, if you would flip the scenario and have McCain offer Obama a cabinet position, it would have a similar effect to the one you set up. The media will protect McCain no matter what.

16. Imo, it's worth it,. Depends on how he or his surrogate phrases the suggestion...
It plays on McC's SINGLE perceived "strength", and boomerangs back to negative info & coverage for McC -- who will hopefully have a fullblown *Special Bonus!* on-camera babyfit when asked about it.

17. Or corp media would say-- What a good idea, honoring his service!
They'd have one liberal on with five conservatives. The liberal would mention JSM III's voting record but would be drowned out by the conservatives with their pre-arranged talking points all about how JSM III knows the vets needs from the inside.

30.  18 U.S.C. § 599
Edited on Sun Aug-24-08 10:04 PM by ourbluenation
"whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or position or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.”

I'm no legal expert, but it seems to me that it's against the law per the above.

32. "for the purpose of procuring support"
In order to break that law a prosecutor would have to show an exchange of support for the possible appointment. There is nothing in that law that does not allow the simple naming of a cabinet or other positions.
