1. Being atheist, I say "Who the fuck cares?".
Show me a candidate that will make my life better (and I take the long view...none of us is better off until ALL of us are better off).

2. What you said .........
Who gives a rat's ass about a candidate's "beliefs"? Haven't we had enough of a professed "Christian" in office who has no qualms about sending innocents to their meaningless deaths while laying waste to a country where thousands and thousands of civilians have died because of that so-called "Christian"?

Just elect someone who can do the job. If he has a habit of sacrificing cats in the back yard at midnight on Saturday, I don't care.

3. Ah,
more generous, nuanced, rational analysis from the atheists.

9. I don't know whose faith is stronger
but I realize that Obama is much more comfortable discussing his beliefs and how they impact his policy decisions and, more importantly, how they don't. I'm guessing the latter is reflective of many people of faith today, considering a majority of believers seem to have diminished the role of political identity in favor of acts that help their faith-based initiatives.

10. Faith in What?
Edited on Sat Aug-16-08 06:21 PM by Proud_Lefty
These evangelicals are absolutely embarrassing. All the lead up so far is about what is most important to them, abortion and gay marriage or rather anti-abortion and gay hatred. Our country is in serious trouble and far more important issues that will save our democracy, our Constitution and our country need to be addressed. If my neighbor has an abortion and my other gay neighbors get married, my life is not adversely affected in any way, shape or form. These people should mind their own business and learn compassion and love instead of judging and jumping into the middle of other's lives where they don't belong.

I can't believe that one of the guys that one day will be the most powerful man in this country and this world has to partake on this dog and pony show, trying to please these crazy hateful people.
