Folsom Mom Jailed For Driving Son to Fight

A Folsom mother has been arrested for allegedly driving her 13-year-old to a fight with another boy and even trying to keep the fisticuffs going.

Renee Honnold, 37, was arrested Thursday and booked on felony child endangerment and conspiracy charges was well as a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Folsom Police spokesman Kurt Knudsen.

"I have not seen anything (like it) in my eight years being a police officer," Knudsen said.

Authorities said the fight happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Chiraag gas station, 301 East Bidwell Street. The station is just across the street from Sutter Middle School, where the two boys had gotten into an altercation earlier in the day.

Witnesses said when another parent tried to break up the fight, Honnold got out of her car and confronted the woman, warning her to mind her own business.

Kids get driven EVERYWHERE these days - no walking, no bicycling (why, they might be snatched up by a pedophile, or hit by an SUV: no one walks anymore, so no one expects pedestrians, so that's why no one walks anymore, etc.)

So the kid was 13 years old. I heard somewhere that these days, kids are kept in booster seats almost until that age! I wonder if the mother had to help her kid out of his kiddie chair before he could get out there and go a few rounds?

I know I shouldn't have ... but one has to appreciate the irony of life, and the fact that there are so many three-ring circuses going on at once.
