Anti-Obama tome surges to top of bestseller lists

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A book by a conservative author that claims to dish the dirt on Democrat Barack Obama is set to hit the top of the New York Times bestseller lists this weekend, the newspaper said Wednesday.

"The Obama Nation" is by Jerome Corsi, who made his name by co-authoring "Unfit for Command," which maligned 2004 Democratic nominee John Kerry's Vietnam War record and contributed to his defeat by President George W. Bush.

The new book's publisher, Threshold Editions, said it examined "why the extreme leftism of an Obama presidency would leave the United States weakened, diminished and divided, why Obama must be defeated -- and how he can be."

The New York Times noted that many of the book's claims "have already been challenged as misleading or false," and the Obama campaign said it would refute any "smears."

"This book is nothing but a series of lies that were long ago discredited, written by an individual who was discredited after he wrote a similar book to help George Bush and (Vice President) Dick Cheney get re-elected four years ago," Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said.

1. EASY. Freeper orgs like NewsMax etc. buy them in LARGE

qtys and sell them to their subscribers. The books are rated by # sold, but noone ever reports who bought them all! They do the same thing with Colter's trash. Hers are always #1 sellers, but have you ever talked to anyone who's ever read one? I sure haven't!

6. I was so ticked off this weekend. I tried to find Suskind's new book and all I could find was this

steaming pile by Corsi in three different spots in the store. I didn't find Suskind's book until I got to the checkout and saw them in a pile behind the counter.

Threshold Editions' logo appears to be -- can you guess? -- a stylized American flag.

It's an affront to writers everywhere that RW slugs like Corsi (a Ph.D. who really, really researched the topic well :eyes:) have no trouble getting their pablum published -- as non-fiction no less. 100 years ago the fantastic claims made by these purveyors of sleaze were properly found painted in straggling rainbow colors on the side of a covered wagon. And if that wasn't enough to warn you off, there was always the sight and sounds of the snake oil salesman himself.
