Ms. Rice, Mr. Holbrooke said, should be on a plane to Moscow
~snip~ Richard C. Holbrooke, the former United States ambassador to the United Nations, noted that President Nicolas Sarkozy of France was leading the efforts to mediate.

Ms. Rice, Mr. Holbrooke said, should be on a plane to Moscow, particularly given the administration’s close ties to Georgia, and its encouragement of that country’s efforts to join NATO.

“Their idea of an envoy is Matt Bryza, who is not an envoy at all since he doesn’t have the international standing,” Mr. Holbrooke said. “What administration in history would not have sent somebody to Moscow immediately? Why are

we not in their face?”

15. Like national security for instance?
She didn't see anything "actionable" about a memo entitled: "Bin Laden determined to attack US."

18. "Bin Laden determined to Strike in US"
The respected German newspaper Die Zeit reported that
the 8/6 PDB was actually not just 1-1/2 pages as we've
seen it, but was actually 11 pages long. If you look at
the redacted documents you can see that at the bottom of
each page in the center, a redaction has been made
where it would say "Page 1 of 11" and "Page 2 of 11".

12. Condi is a fraud in her claim of Russian expertise
Having family members living/working in Moscow from 2002 - 2006, and working and socializing with Foreign Embassy employees and Russian diplomats, all who had a firm knowledge of the Russian culture and language have told me that Condi Rice's visits were considered a joke. The Russians made fun of her lazy attempts at speaking Russian and her lack of understanding the culture and history of Russia......they all thought it was tragic that the American Government/Bush Administration would task such an incompetent individual to represent the US and the American people with such important world-wide matters. The Russians laughed within her presence and she didn't even get it.

21. Sad to think that we once had diplomats like Reichauer as ambassador to Japan
One Japanese editorial cartoon pictured the prime minister and aides leafing through a Japanese grammar book. It was captioned "Reichauer-san is coming!"

13. Rice visited Georgia less than a month ago
Oh, to be a fly on the wall during that meeting. Maybe the Russians had it bugged. Maybe that's why they seemed so ready to respond to the Georgian military.

19. Putin got a sense of George's soul, too.
Putin saw decay, while George was imagining that his new best bud took him to be a man of equal substance.

Maybe Condi can fix this, like the 9/11 Commission, by telling him which questions he should really be asking.
