Live Blog with Progressive Candidate

Roy Carter, U.S. Congressional candidate endorsed by Democracy for America, will be taking part in a live blog on DFA’s Blog for America on Tuesday August 12, at 6:00 pm EST.

Roy will be giving updates from his historic progressive campaign in the Bible Belt’s heartland of conservatism, which has pitted a forty year high school science teacher, football coach and tree farmer, and a man who built his own house four different times, against corrupt right-wing extremist millionaire Virginia Foxx, who lives in a gated resort community on the edge of the district and has all the CEOs of Big Oil in her phone's "Fav Five."

Aptly dubbed the “Hero of New Progressivism,” Carter has made a personal commitment to never take money from corporate lobbyists, Big Oil, or Big Pharm, and has also made a stunning commitment to not accept Congressional healthcare coverage until EVERY American citizen is satisfied with their own.

All of the netroots are invited to drop in and take part and a share their concerns and thoughts with Roy.

Questions and comments are welcome from anyone who drops by, and Roy will be discussing his landmark statements on mountain-top removal, gas prices, a new direction on energy, environmental protection, education, and fiscal responsibility, as well as ending the war and preventing any others.

He will talk about how this campaign for Congress has affected him and shaped him as a person already, how it's turned him into an activist, the excitement of being endorsed by Democracy for America and getting Jim Dean to personally come down to a pre-primary rally, and what he'll have to do to see it through to victory in November.

What's truly amazing about Roy is that by running as a progressive Yellow Dog Democrat, in rural NC, he is now poised to win and is in a statistical dead heat in the polls.

His former students and players swear by him and many have volunteered to canvass, phone bank and work the polls for him.

Wish you could see his 250+ pound former offensive linemen going door to door, and down dirt roads for their beloved coach.

So, let's put a high school science teacher and farmer in Congress, one who will not back down, because he never has.

Hi,

This is one of Roy's former students.

Encouraging you to come live blog with him today.

He was a savior to me. I was really bad off in high school, horrible grades. This close to dropping out completely

Roy stayed after class, missing the beginning of football practice, to hep me with my studies.

He talked me out of dropping out, and helped me enough to where I earned my diploma and now am four credits away from graduating from Appalachian State University.


Roy is eager to hear all the concerns of DU, and the netroots because they represent the real "informed" America.
