Wally Herger has been our congressman here in Northern California for 22 years, and he's spent all 22 years the champion of malfeasance and nonfeasance.

District 2 is a very large district in Northern California. The district includes part or all of Siskiyou, Trinity, Shasta, Tehama, Glenn, Butte, Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, and Yolo counties. Major cities and land features include Redding, Chico, Marysville, Weaverville, Yreka, Mt. Shasta, the Sutter Buttes, Mt. Lassen, the Trinity Alps, and almost all of the Sacramento River.

The District is poor and rural. 17% of people are below the poverty line (compared with 12% for the US), there's a 10% unemployment rate (compared with 5.8% for the US), and only 17% of people have a bachelor's degree or higher (compared with 24% for the US). If District 2 was a state, we'd be ranked second to last in terms of the percent population with a degree, right above Louisiana. Among other facts, 3% of the district is Native American, and 4% works in Farming, Fishing, and Forestry.

And how has Wally Herger responded to the poverty in his district? By voting NO on increasing the minimum wage, NO on the GI Bill Extension, YES on privatization of Social Security, YES on torture, YES on tax cuts for the upper 20%, and NO on funding for seniors, the disabled, and the poor. How has he helped the many Native tribes that call District 2 their ancestral home? By voting to limit where tribes can game, and refusing to help the Winnemem Wintu gain tribal recognition. And how has he helped the Forestry and Farming workers in his district? By voting for huge giveaways to Big Timber and THREE, yes, THREE megafarms in his district.

Wally Herger has received a 0% rating from NARAL, 0% from the ACLU, a grade of F from the NEA, 0% from Defenders of Wildlife, 0% from the Sierra Club, 5% from the Brady Campaign to end gun violence, 4% for the AFL-CIO, 5% from NOW, and a 0% lifetime rating from the League of Conservation Voters.

It's going to be an uphill battle, but please help elect JEFF MORRIS in California's District 2.

Thanks.
