Osteen's Wife on Trial for Temper Tantrum

Can a crankiness land you in court? The case of Sandra Brown v. Victoria Osteen is the story of a chance encounter on an airplane that turned into a nasty legal battle.

Osteen and her family were on Brown's flight from Houston to Vail, Colo., two years ago when, according to court documents, witnesses said Osteen became upset about a spill on the armrest of her first-class seat. She asked the flight attendants to clean up the spill and when they did not respond quickly enough, Osteen became confrontational, according to documents filed in the civil case that goes to trial today.

The lawsuit, filed in Harris County Civil Court in Houston, alleges that Victoria Osteen "shoved, grabbed and pulled the flight attendants." The suit goes on to claim that Osteen elbowed Brown, who was the flight manager, while allegedly trying to get into the cockpit of the airplane.

Brown's attorney, Reginald McKamie, contends that Osteen has a dark side that the trial will expose. His client, he said, was forced into civil court because Continental did not call police when the incident happened. Osteen and her family were asked to leave the flight; Osteen was later fined $3,000 by the Federal Aviation Administration for interfering with a flight crew member.

The attorney representing Victoria Osteen in the lawsuit is the legendary Rusty Hardin, who said his client's actions have been exaggerated and that he looked forward to having her side of the story told in court.

This is a clear case of someone having a false sense of entitlement. The Osteens are always so smug acting and do nothing more than motivate conservatives that don't want to be held accountable, even by their own religion. The go into that big ass church with all those cameras and sit and listen to Joel Osteen tell them messages that translate into nothing more than patting yourself on the back for being rich and making it seem as if the poor are only made up of people with negative attitudes and bad decisions.

I am so sick of conservative pricks acting like they are something special. The truth is, they are the scum of the Earth. They play on people's ignorance and inability to see the world as it truly is, and they form a following of sheep that will believe and do anything they say and always put the word of a religious text that was written thousands of years ago with no basis of truth to it ahead of trying to learn about reality and how it really works. There are people suffering all around the world, even in our own country, and we continue to get fooled as a nation into voting for those who advance the conservative agenda of retaining power for the few and generating that very power on the backs of the under-represented, hard-working Americans who are the real backbone of this nation.

The "alleged assualt" resulted in Brown's loss of faith, she now suffers from anxiety, and HEMORRHOIDS!!!!!

This is a bullshit lawsuit where the flight attendant - or maybe it's just her lawyer - sees the potential for $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Victoria Osteen has paid the fine assessed by the FAA, thus dispensing with the criminal aspects of the incident...but this lawsuit should be tossed should be tossed settled only for actual time lost from work which can be demonstrated to be validly associated with this incident. Getting your rhoids rammed back up your ass has nothing to do with the incident, and if this woman's faith was so shaky that this has caused her to doubt all faith, then it was already in crisis and that is not Osteen's fault.

I've seen the video - they never even tried to talk to her or reason with her, just took her to the ground, hand-cuffed her, and off to a holding cell.

I know this isn't the exact same situation, but I doubt they wrestled Ms. Osteen to the ground when she tried to enter the cockpit, which is much more egregious than throwing a hissy fit in the airport. The woman was sick, for cryin' out loud.

Can you imagine what the depositions were like, deposing the plaintiff about all her previous roid flare ups, comparing them to other momentous events in her life:

"Miss RoidRage, did your roids flare up when your mother died? When you got a divorce? When you found out your boyfriend was cheating with your sister? When you were denied a promotion? When you got turned down by American Idol?"

Few things in the world are more stressful than going to trial, so whatever happened with Mrs. Osteen is a far cry from the way one's butt grabs a chair as a litigant in a jury trial.

Talk about your frivolous lawsuits!! There was some conflict that lasted all of ten seconds on an airplane in the first class section before the plane took off. The Osteens got off the plane immediately.

The air waitress claims the incident caused her to lose her faith and have hemorrhoid flare ups!

I can't stand Osteen or his phony wife, but this is ridiculous at its worst. I hope they laugh the plaintiff out of the courtroom. Her ass really will be chapped and puckered then.
