Gas down to $3.50 a gallon where I live.
I suspect the McCain supports will get it down to about $3.25 by November. That tends to be the psychological price at which alot of people change their behavior.

And then it'll go back to $4 a gallon before Thanksgiving.

I'm trying to remember what it was in November 2006.

3. If it gets to $3.25 and snows in November
people will start buying giant SUVs again. The arrogance and stupidity of the American people knows no bounds.

History has a mysterious way of creeping up on those that fail to learn from the past.

According to that, it looks like gas was around $2.30/gal right before the '06 elections, which was way down from a high of around $2.97 earlier that summer.

14. And the price of gas continued down after the election in 2006.
Gas prices usually peak in the summer and hit bottom in midwinter which means they normally are falling in the fall and rising in the spring. From an electoral perspective that is good for repubs, but doesn't make it a conspiracy.

In 2004 Kerry should have benefited from gas prices. They fell from a high of $2.02 in the summer to $1.81 in mid-September then rose to $1.98 by early November (the six weeks leading up to the election) only to fall to $1.75 in the winter after the election.

The biggest price fall for gas in prior to an "election" was in 2005, when it was $3.03 in September but hit $2.33 by early November. It eventually fell to $2.12 that winter. Of course, there was no national election that year.

15. Thanks. I knew the average was pretty low like that. I think our local
average was about 15-20 cents below that. I'm certain it will crank up again right after the November election.

5. And the media will tell us this is somehow a good thing
Gas was $1.40 a gallon when Bush assumed office. And the Republicans had the nerve to whine about how it was too high. Now, we're two and a half times that, Exxon is pulling down record profits, and Republicans don't seem to think there's anything wrong with the situation. Well, except for the lack of offshore drilling and permanent raping of the wilderness.

oil companies to ease antagonism towards the GOP. Yeah, I love paying less, but I bet it is temporary, like in 2006 when prices hiked two days after the election.

And we pay a little less being closer to the refineries. Not always a healthy thing.

10. 4.44 here in So California as of Tuesday
Hven't checked it since then.

Ususally I try to not look at the price or pump when filling up. I figure looking and getting upset will not change anything.
