Sometimes I wish ALL rappers would just STFU!!!
And this is helping HOW?

Ludacris Obama Video Denounced

At the same time, a line out of a new freestyle verse from rapper Ludacris posed a new celebrity-tinged question for the Obama campaign. "Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant," Ludacris says in the song.

The rapper's remarks drew a sharp response from Sen. Clinton's former national finance co-chair, Yashar Hedayat.

"I hope Senator Obama has the presence of mind to denounce and distance himself from Ludacris," Hedayat wrote in an email to the Huffington Post. "In May, when Father Pfleger made those horrible remarks about Senator Clinton at Trinity United, Senator Obama didn't do much to defend her and John McCain was the first to rush to her defense."

Simultaneously, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton released a statement saying:

"As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn't want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics."

He needs to do the right thing and apologize. Obama's election is more important than anything else right now.

Most rappers sell records
based on total content, not politics. If we chalked it up to "some" politics mixed in with everything else, both Eminem and the Beastie Boys have done quite well.

5. I'm torn on Rap.
First of all, I'm old, so I guess that lets me off the hook when I say I find it obscene and sexist. On the other hand, I think it's a great gift to free expression. I'd just like to see a liitle more creativity in the music itself. Hasn't it been around for about 100 years now? Isn't it time for something new?

While I agree with your initial sentiment - I, too, wish rappers would shut the fuck up, but I come to that conclusion from an artistic and cultural standpoint - I do not agree with your reasoning.

To expect politicians - or anyone - to have to constantly defend or decry statements made by utterly unrelated people is abso-fucking-lutely ludicrous.

No pun intended.

Who fucking cares what a rapper, priest, or other person says about so-and-so that is utterly unrelated to some other so-and-so.

I sure as fuck don't.

Some women are. I'll be upfront and admit that. And DU has made me and others take a step back and think about using that and other words. I believe the rules were amended to reflect that.

Furthermore, I don't make my living degrading ALL women.

ON EDIT: I saw this special about a year ago, and have come to realize that rappers and their abuse of women need to be seriously addressed: http://shop.vh1.com/Confessions-of-a-Video-Vixen-VH1-Recommends_stcVVproductId3342990VVcatId423749VVviewprod.htm

So, anyone who sings Wagner is automatically anti-Semitic? Don't you look foolish.

Feeble. Very feeble. Babbling about Wagner - a dumb comparison - to excuse the vicious homophobia of these assholes is just a complete straw man. Hey, look! Opera singers hate Jews, even though I can't come up with one single quote from an actual singer!

One of the most vicious homophobic rappers is Eminem, a little white punk who could get his ass kicked by many gay men I know. My objections have nothing to do with race. Interjecting it here is another straw man.

Hey, if you think these 'kill faggots' messages are acceptable, then enjoy yourself. Listen away. Personally, I view it as a death sentence for gay men and women because it encourages gay bashing and anti-gay violence and I have every reason to condemn it.

It ain't 'music'* by any stretch of the imagination.
It's some kind of sometimes rhyming slang that I'm sure does reflect the pain and gritty existence of ghetto 'gangstas' and their (apparently) legions of wannabes.

Cable:
You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught

60. Sometimes I wish all white people would STFU!!!
Especially country musicians. And then I realize that I'm probably stereotyping and showing my ethnocentric fears. And that maybe there are some white people who aren't prejudiced or culturally deficient. And that there are probably some white people with justifiable anger or a story to tell and the raw talent to express it in a valid art form.

Oh, and then I realize I'm white.

FFS people. You don't have to like the genre, but leave the dull-witted, xenophobic pig-ignorance to the Conservatives.

that 'some' people are not going to like, just so Obama can renounce, denounce, and reject me.

69. I don't really care who it is !
All we have come to is not called progress, if anyone feels resorting to name calling and degrading people based on looks or for any other reason at all then we have lost perspective of humanity and respect for others in general.

I don't think any of this sort of cheap insane crap helps , it does quite the opposite.

The easiest thing to do is lash out with cheap shots and the most effective thing to do is to stick to the issues, we might actually get somewhere.

I thought Randi Rhodes showed how low class and ignorant she really is when she made her comments about Hillary.

There is free speech but there is also common sense and respect given
for respect in return.

We live in some spoiled child like delusional world now where anything goes. If it can gather attention then they feel it's just fine until it comes back and bites them in the ass.

If I met someone who acted this way I would keep on walking and never look back.

It's a sick sorry joke that is not even laughable.

71. And this proves what?
I don't see where I used name calling or used physical assults or age . Why not look at the replies this brought then tell me all about it. I used the word freak. Look up the word.

What exactly is your point other than as always, come along with a comment with an attempt to put me down. Don't you have anything better to do?

Show me one post where I called one person anything at all since you are in the search mode.

85. ignorant is name calling ?

Give me a damn break . Face the reality , you are only pecking round because I happen not to like Obama.

There are many things I don't agree with you on at all but I am not looking for some lame way or go out of my way to come here and try to slam you for anything.

If you have a beef with me then why not just say it and come out of the dark.

What are you trying to do,bring me down to the level you have displayed in this thread? Or are you attempting to justify your own actions? If you want to defend this rapper , go for it, who the hell cares, I could care less , i don't even know who he is and I don't care to.

Yes Randi calling Hillary a f-ing whore was really impressive stuff , really does a lot of good to resort to this sort of thing doesn't it.

The difference between you and Ludacris is that Ludacris is talented and has artistic license.

He's probably not a hypocrite either.

83. Chuggo is probably the only contemporary rap artist with a real message.
I hope he gives hiphop the street cred that it had when Vanilla Ice was letting the truth be known.
