Bob runs the Daily Howler and has the most comprehensive information on the internet on how the media treated Al Gore during the 2000 election.

Believe it or not---- but there are still plenty of folks right here on DU who still believe some of the shit written about Al --- shit that Somerby brilliantly has debunked over the last 6 years.

If Al runs, he's going to need us to watch his back and the best way to do that is to know the tactics that were deployed against him in 2000. They'll try it again, but this time he has that thing he invented, the internets--;-)--to go after those who try and swiftboat him.

In fact, when AP reported that he said he wasn't running the Gore camp quickly correct them saying the statement.

He hasn't committed to run but he hasn't yet ruled it out.

The one I was in until, oh, maybe today, he'd said any number of times he's not running. Over and over again.

I realize the man's entitled to change his mind, but I don't think I've imagined all the times in the last year or two he's said he's not running. In fact, I did a quick google search and it confirms I am not imagining things.

7. If Al needs US to watch his back he can't possibly win.

Anyone fit to be president has to be capable of assembling a team that "watch his back" domestically and internationally after she/he is elected. If they can't do this in the campaign they've got little chance of doing it in office.
