Iraq Army Base Attacked by Two Suicide Bombers; 30 People Die, 50 Injured
from Bloomberg:

Iraqi Army Base Attacked by Suicide Bombers; 30 Die (Update1)

By Camilla Hall

July 15 (Bloomberg) -- Two suicide bombers blew themselves up at an Iraqi army base in Baquba, killing some 30 people and injuring 50, President Jalal Talabani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan said on its Arabic-language Web site.

The attack took place early today at the al-Saad base in Diyala province, north of Baghdad, the PUK said. As people gathered to examine the scene of the first blast, the second bomber detonated explosives, causing further casualties, the PUK said, citing police.

The Iraqi government is planning an offensive against al- Qaeda fighters in Diyala province, where there have been frequent suicide attacks and car bombings, the PUK said.

The U.S. military gave a lower death toll in today's bombings, saying 16 were killed and 30 injured. U.S. military spokesman Lieutenant David Russell said by e-mail that the attack took place at a police recruiting event.

A female suicide bomber blew herself up on June 22, killing 16 people in an attack on the headquarters of the governor of Diyala province, Agence France-Presse reported.

well, we've been asked to leave but no no we can't leave now because of any number of new reasons with the first and most telling is not until the oiligarths haven't gotten their grubby pawls on their oil just yet.
