My Mother is grieving
over the death "of that nice young man".

Oh, you mean you know one of the perported 18,000 Iraq Veterans who have commited suicide for example?

No, of course not, it's Tony Snow.

OK, I'm not happy Tony Snow died. But I would not refer to him as a "nice young man".

How can you talk to people like that?

1. What a model of an American and a model of humanity he was. He should be sainted!
(Since we're not allowed to speak the truth about him on DU)

Let her grieve.

3. The Way The MSM Is Going On and On
without showing him advocating for war when he was on FOX News doesn't help tell the true story of TS.

4. At least Scott McClellan didn't ENJOY lying.
That was what made the Daily Scotty Roast so enjoyable-- watching Scotty suffer.

Tony Snowjob, on the other hand, enjoyed being dishonest.

Let's see him try to "spin" his way past St. Peter.

5. Tony Snow was good at selling himself to an audience and,
by extension, whatever it was he happened to be selling. He was the quintessential salesman and your mother cannot be faulted for falling under his spell.

6. Jason, is that you?
I doubt it; he's a Republican (to our family's shame...)

But seriously, I heard the exact same phrase describing Snow a few months ago from my own mother.

She was somewhat taken aback when i told her my sympathy was reserved for cancer victims that weren't earning $350,000+ a year while being the mouthpiece of Satan.

8. How about just saying - I'm sorry you will miss him?
Edited on Sun Jul-13-08 04:36 PM by dmordue
and leaving it as a statement of compassion versus a reason to have a political debate.

9. You and emilyg are right of course.
So far I have managed to keep the Bush Administration from destroying my family and friendships. But some days are just harder than others.
