If / when FISA Immunity passes, will it be too late ?
So, does this mean we have to start covering our tracks?
Or is my tendency to be a progressive liberal already well documented?
will the gestapo already be in their way....or is there some time to create an "alter" ego..?
Then again, how does one "hide" the IP address of their home computer?

hmmmm...just some nice, comforting, paranoid thoughts for tonight.

Is anyone worried for their own safety regarding this?

fascism is alive and well in Amurka :grr:

3. I do not flatter myself
Maybe you are more important than me but I do not think that I am a threat to anyones status quo. Anyone spying on me would die of boredom. No matter how anti-authority my statements are I am still just a 40 hour a week nobody.

Living in fear of the government is just not in my nature. They would like you to think that their spying is omnipotent, it is not. They do not have the man power to do it. So they will sub it out to a company who will do a lousy job of it. Also they cannot overtly use it against us without giving clues as to it's scope. They will have to present evidence in a courtroom for all to see with it's legality challenged at every turn.

It's worrisome but it is no where near the threat to Americans as it is to anyone we happen to contact in another country. I would imagine that many wrongful renditions started with a call from the states just to say "hey" or even a wrong number.

4. "In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;

And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;
And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;
And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up." Martin Niemoller

7. Who says I am not speaking up?
I have put how I feel about nearly every issue on this forum for all to read. I sign every petition that I agree with. Let them spy away I have posted no opinion that I would not sign my name to and I will not let a bunch of government busybodies change that. If I refrain from speaking my mind then the spying has achieved its goal, to shut me up.

My point was that using information obtained through spying will be a double edged sword and that I am not important enough to go though all of the trouble. The same goes for most of us. I would like to think that my posts are provocative enough to gain notice but I am not fooling myself.

5. Probably. We are reaching the point of no return.
The government has a list of 8 million US citizens to be "watched" in case of an "emergency". It's no fly list or airport harassment list contains the names of 1 million. With our rights being taken away, I can't figure out a good scenario. I am curious as to what the plan is and as to why both parties are in agreement to a police state shift.

8. See, THAT"S exactly what I am talking about...
and this is how it starts people.
I don't care if you think it isn't possible to "catch" people doing wrong. the point is that things like this make the net biger for them to hold pour opinions against us. THAT is NOT a free country.

I have not flown anywhere since 1/01 (for financial reasons, not paranioa) but now I wouldn't go on a plane if you paid me, just because the "security" measures are disconcerting at best, and dangerous at their worst.

Complacency is our second enemy, fear is the first...I guess after that it is just best to be smarter than them and plan the revolution quietly, eh?

6. from what I've read...
and heard, this "immunity" is only from civil lawsuits, correct? so there is still a shot at criminal charges. I know there are other crappy things in this bill, but I really don't want this administration to get away with anything.
